Mitt Romney has been trying to make quite a bit of political hay out of the compromise immigration bill he sees it as one of John McCain's key weaknesses as relates to the Republican base and a great way to differentiate himself as the One True Conservative in the race (at least until Fred Thompson jumps in).
Well, today, on a conference call with bloggers, Mr. McCain fired back at the former Massachusetts governor, who has (of course) held varying positions on immigration over the years. "Maybe I should wait a couple weeks and see if it changes," Mr. McCain said of Mr. Romney's position on immigration this week. "Maybe he can get out his small varmint gun and drive those Guatemalans off his yard."
More after the jump...

Like a B actor or a re-run.
Sad man...but still dangerous because he has power.
Was McCrazy on the “straight talk express” when he made those biting, satirical comments? The North Vietnamese communists sure did a job on him!!
Ooooo....I’m “losing it”....whatever “it” is. Next step in the playbook is to claim to know where I live.
Nonetheless, McCain and Fred have still taken direct actions that led to a loss of my 1A rights that Romney and the rest have not taken and no matter how many times you can point to something someone other than McCain and Fred has said in the past, it does not get rid of that fact.
McCain introduced a bill co-sponsored by Fred that directly infringes on my 1A rights.......and it has nothing to do with Romney and the rest.
Time to stalk someone else.
Sheesh. All that because I posted Romney’s own words, on tape.
I continue to be amazed by Romney supporters’ refusal to face facts.
In an intimate setting of friendly reporters, over drinks and light snacks, Senator John McCain continuing his localised version of his Straight Talk express.
“Romney and his current position on Immigration”
Ha Ha, well, thats new, said Senator McCain”
“I think I’ll stay around and see if he changes his mind again.” HaHa” “And EFF HIM!!” and “Eff You”.
“Hello? Room Service? “EFF YOU”.
Ummm....
Next thing you are going to say is the Mitt wrote McCain-Kennedy........Geez
He lay face down in the desert sand
clutching a six gun in his hand ...
No. I said what actually happened. Romney is attacking others for what he himself is guilty of...supporting campaign finance measures that trash the First Amendment. That makes him a hypocrite. Get it?
It is one thing to speak in theory. It is another thing to create the law.
He was speaking as a prominent candidate for federal office, and again as a candidate for Governor. That’s pretty significant. Your willingness to brush off his hypocritical current attacks on other candidates in the face of this clear evidence shows that you’ll go to practically any lengths in your support for the liberal former Governor of Massachusetts.
I am not aware of one. I sure didn’t do one.
“Guatamalans”. That is going to come back at him.
Hey, I think we should encourage McCain on! He could get a bloody nose on the Senate floor:) (Do you have red hair?:):)
He also has the best anti-illegal immigrant track record.
He is the only candidate to arrest Illegals using the Nationsl Guard. Deal with that fact!
No.
“He also has the best anti-illegal immigrant track record.
He is the only candidate to arrest Illegals using the Nationsl Guard. Deal with that fact!”
Hey now, there’s a novel thought—looking at what the candidate actually DID as governor rather than obsessing over random comments made to reporters.
