In a hit piece on the U.S. Coast Guard, CBS 60 Minute's Steve Kroft made the following statement:
"This is a story the Coast Guard didnt want 60 Minutes to tell. It refused to make Commandant Thad Allen or any other officer available for an interview."
At the very end of the hit piece, when most viewers were in the bathroom, or in the kitchen making a sandwitch or getting another beer, Kroft made this statement:
Late last week, after our story had been completed, the coast guard finally offered to make Commandant Thad Allen available, but only for a live unedited interview, which we declined to do.
I made the same comment to my husband. We never watch 60 minutes but we were eating dinner. I said
Of course they won’t do an unedited interview because that they can’t spin.
What a stupid show.
I don't know if you've ever worked in TV news. I have. You NEVER let the interviewee dominate the interview. There are some of us in the biz who still care.
60 minutes does nothing unedited... except maybe Andy Rooney.
I just happened to click on CBS when that 60 minutes started and immediately saw the direction it was going.
“Bash the Military”
The most important invention in the last 50 years is the TV selector. Thank you Lord!
CBS (Communist Broadcasting System) is packed with Stalinist Scum. Is there anyone left on the planet that expects CBS to tell the truth?

After the Coast Guard made 33,000 rescues from Katrina, the world should have been made aware that this was the greatest rescue operation in the history of the world. Instead, it was in the interest of the DBM and the Dems to have the world think that the US govt (Bush) didn't care about suffering people. I really despise both the DMB and the Dem leadership.
I remember seeing the condeleeza rice interview on 60 minutes. I was thinking, her comments aren’t making sense. Then I started watching her closely, and realized the frame was “jumping”. They were actually editing words out of her sentences.
I said I will never watch 60 minutes again. If they can’t even let an interviewee speak a complete sentence, they can’t possibly be worth watching.
Okay...if you're so smart...take the part of the interview you want seen on the air. Oh!! That means you have to edit!!! The interview probably went 30 minutes and you have 12 minutes!! Oh!!
People who don't understand TV time limits are idiots.
I never watch 60 minutes. I quit watching all CBS programs after Dan Blathergate’s fake memo episode.
>>>I don’t know if you’ve ever worked in TV news. I have. You NEVER let the interviewee dominate the interview.<<<
Why not? Are you afraid the interviewee will say something that opposes (or exposes) your agenda? Radio does live interviews all the time, with no problem. The TV prima donnas are all agenda-driven, and are not better than the tabloids. Maybe worse.
My beef with 60 minutes is that 99% of their segments are negative. Is there really no more of positive stories to do that that? It shameful. I never even turn it on. There’s always a guarantee of a “hit” piece. They have NO reputation at all.
60 Spin-Its
Why the same rule must apply in courtrooms! The Judge must selectively allow and Prosecutor must selectively edit testimony.
The full, unadulterated truth must never be known. Only the carefully redacted version.
There must be preselected heroes and villains, a neutral ambivalent, but basically good character caught in a web of deceit between them -- a set morality plot.
Face it, Jane (once John, before the surgery) Q Public can not handle raw truth, only spoonfed PC pablum. Yes SIREE!
But people who purport to be reporters shouldn’t edit
stuff they record.
Please leave me alone...you are scary strange.
What “biz” are YOU in, exactly, paulat?
Then bump the limited minutes. Hey. What a novel idea! Come back after the commercial rather than ending the interview because “it’s time for a commercial”.
>>>Please leave me alone...you are scary strange.<<<
No, you are scary.
I quit watching 60 Minutes 20 years ago,it was too liberal then. About that same time cBS 60 Minutes did a total hit piece on the San Diego Health Dept. it did not deserve.
