After what happened this morning on amnesty? Hell, no. The GOP is going to lose and lose big, because it goddam well DESERVES to. The only problem is that when they fall, they’ll take the rest of us with them.

Did any of the 'immigration warriors' expect anything different when they stayed home from the polls in 2006 and allowed so many Repubs. to lose to a Democrat, when they knew the Democrat party is so hot to trot for amnesty? Did they expect the remaining Repubs. to have any sort of spine on the issue when they figured the voters wouldn't support them anyway?

This guy is a Pubbie, who won both the Pubbie and 'Rat mayoral primaries in Hazleton, PA.

Write on: Barletta knocks Marsicano off ballot

He got most of the Pubbie and 'Rat votes in Hazleton.

This is not about party.

They have only themselves to blame.

It wasn’t merely “immigration warriors” who stayed home. They were but one component.

Others were furious over the corruption in the party. There were people who saw that the GOP is now giving cover to perverts and child molesters. Then there was the handling by Hastert of the FBI investigation of William Jefferson (D-LA), where Hastert was saying the most extraordinarily stupid things as the FBI sought to search Jefferson’s offices and papers, with a warrant in hand.

Then there was the pork — entire feedlots of pork.

The GOP lost voters for Congressional seats not only on immigration, but on a whole series of stupid mistakes and even stupider positions.

It beggars belief that politicians and party hacks blame voters for the actions of voters in this case. More unmitigated goddamn gall I’ve never heard. The pols knew what their base wanted, and the pols flipped voters the finger and said “We know better than you” on issue after issue.

The candidates have nowhere to place blame but upon themselves. It shows the depth of their disconnect that they dare to blame voters. Voters are free to cast their vote as they will, and have no duty to vote for anyone they don’t believe deserves their vote.

The immigration warriors did not stay home - the blue-collar Reagan Democrats decided that they could vote for either the pro-amnesty party that would hand them a welfare check when their job was offshored/cheap-sourced, or the pro-amnesty party that would leave them hanging when their job was offshored/cheap-sourced. The exit polls showed that the Republican base DID SHOW UP - it was the independents that sat out or voted DIM. Stop repeating this trope.

Suzi I believe you miss the entire point the border issue should have been resolved on Sept. 12 2001 with the border patrol being supplemented by our armed forces on the border. INS should of been instructed to locate all illegals and deport them and if the official is to lazy to do his job you can him!. The Repubs had a chance when they had Congress and the Presidency. They had no interest but to betray the American People. By the way, You need to eliminate staff in DC also. Ravenstar
