Notwithstanding all you are going to hear to the contrary from President Bush, Sen. John McCain, and their new ideological partner, Sen. Ted Kennedy, Title VI of this bill is amnesty, plain and simple. According to an op-ed by former attorney general Ed Meese that appeared last year in the New York Times discussing the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, “the difference is that President Reagan called this what it was: amnesty. Indeed, look up the term ‘amnesty’ in Black’s Law Dictionary, and you’ll find it says, ‘the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act provided amnesty for undocumented aliens already in the country.’” It was amnesty then, and it’s amnesty now.

Those pushing this amnesty now are telling the same LIE they told in 1986—Amnesty now, enforcement later.

They have absolutely NO intention on enforcing our sovereignty and immigration laws. The proof in that is that they absolutely refuse to enforce our sovereignty and immigration laws now.

Parents and spouses of illegal aliens qualifying under the Z-1 category.

Medved just said it doesn't include parents and this article states it and I heard from another talk show host it includes parents.

We all know the demoncrats will sell us out, but evidently the republicans didn’t learn their lesson from the last election.

They sold us out when they over spent and now they are joining the demoncrats and selling out our country to illegal aliens.

I will NOT vote for any republican who votes for the illegal immigration bill.

There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?

President's Statement on Bipartisan Immigration System Proposal
May 17, 2007, 3:25 P.M. EDT

[SNIP]

As I reflect upon this important accomplishment, important first step toward a comprehensive immigration bill, it reminds me of how much the Americans appreciate the fact that we can work together -- when we work together they see positive things.

Immigration is a tough issue for a lot of Americans. The agreement reached today is one that will help enforce our borders, but equally importantly, it will treat people with respect. This is a bill where people who live here in our country will be treated without amnesty, but without animosity.

I look forward to a good vote out of the United States Senate as quickly as Leader Reid can get the bill moving, and then of course we look forward to working with the House of Representatives to take this first step and convert it into a successful second step. I really am anxious to sign a comprehensive immigration bill as soon as I possibly can. Today we took a good step toward that direction.

Thank you.

END 3:27 P.M. EDT

Those who fail to study history are destined to repeat it.
We got sold this bill of goods back in the 80's.
Amnesty was going to solve all our problems... yeah right...

Medved’s an open borders Bush apologist on this issue.

Which is why I quit listening to him most of the time.

which means they never have to pursue “a pathway to citizenship.”

Good. I'm far less concerned about giving amnesty to those already here than to giving them a pathway to citizenship.

This country would be a far better place if it allowed more people to come here to work legally above board and pay taxes, and fewer people to come here to become citizens after breaking innumerable laws. AND PROVIDED that those who are not citizens do not qualify for the Public Dole in any way except for the cost of a plane ticket back home should they lose their job.

Putting lipstick on a pig. Unfortunately, some are brain-dead enough to believe it (Lindsey Graham).

When are Conservatives going to wake up and accept the fact the Republican party has abandoned its core Conservative principles in favor of socialism? Bush partnering with socialist Teddy (rum dum) Kennedy should be more than enough proof. When will Conservatives realize the only way Conservatives will have their values represented is by forming a Conservative party?

“Sellout.” It may be harsh”

Not as harsh as the more well deserved term “treason.”

Medved is irrational on the issue. I can’t even listen to his platitudes; he makes my skin crawl.
