No quarrel with most of that. I am viewing this more pragmatically as a national security concern. With the "purist" approach, we would trade freely with all nations, and just allow the belligerent ones to expand and take over other nations (like our friend Taiwan). After all, it's free market, survival of the fittest etc., right? Is there any point at which we can say "stop!" and stand for our national sovereignty? Or is our free-trade purity ultimately to lead us all to learn Mandarin?

Are you okay with China taking over Taiwan? Are you comfortable with their impact on other major regional trading partners like India?
