Sarkozy pledges Israel support

France's president-elect vowed to support Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office said Tuesday that he had spoken by phone with Nicolas Sarkozy to congratulate him on his succession of French President Jacques Chirac.

The statement added that the conservative Sarkozy "thanked Prime Minister Olmert and said: 'I am a friend of Israel and Israel can always rely on my friendship".

The two leaders expect to meet and discuss Middle East issues after Sarkozy is inaugurated, Olmert's office said.

Many Israelis see Sarkozy's election on Sunday as a chance for France to redress foreign policies that they long considered pro-Arab

The Jewhaters in France had a field day under Chirac. I hope this election puts a halt to all that.

If this keeps up, I may have to end my decade-long boycott and buy a case of Bordeaux.

Wow. This is amazing. Maybe the French will become people we want to know again. It’s been a long time.

Sarkozy proved something on Sunday: you can still, at this late date, decisively win an election in France without the Arab vote.

Hopefully his policies will keep it that way.

“He support Israel, yet he finances mosques???”

You’r right, it’s an huge contradiction. That’s why I don’t vote for him on the 1st round. But now that he know that only 1% on muslims vote for him, he maybe change his politics. Anyway, Sarkozy has some (far) jewish origins.

We need to take our lead for ‘08 from France. It appears that they got this one right. Rather than swing even farther to the left, the French have taken a sharp turn to the right.

Sarkozy may have a legislative battle on his hands as his term matures but, for now, the signs are VERY positive!!

Way to go, France!

If this is true, then their is hope for France after all. But with France, you have to really see it to believe it.

Meanwhile, in the USA we have given half of the store away to people that have lukewarm to weak support of Isreal and are getting ready to give away the other half in 2008.

remember european countries do not have the same separation of church and state that we are used to. Church restoration etc has always been co-financed by the state. In many countries your religious tithing is taken out of your paycheck, like any other deduction.

Yes it is his father grandmother so he’s not directly a jew.

If you want to have an “aperçu” on classical Sarko bashing, this flash clip very funny :

Expect “buyers remorse” to set in by 2008 in the USA.

Exocet missiles, Mirage aircraft, etc.
