On May 2 the U.S. Senate passed a resolution condemning the riots in Estonia and attacks on Estonian embassies and supporting Estonias right to deal with internal matters, such as the relocation of the Red Army monument from Tallinn.==
The relocation of the monument was just the “last straw”. Estonia did many other dirties to Russia. So Russia has any motive to cut business with Estonia.
Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Artis Pabriks and Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis (in that order) issued solidarity statements equating Estonias right to take sovereign decisions with Latvias own right to do so. The Latvian parliaments draft declaration of support is being delayed (though it can not be blocked) by a mainly Russian opposition party through procedural maneuvers. Polish President Lech Kaczynski made several supportive telephone calls to Ilves during the crisis while also trying to impress on an indifferent EU that Estonia must not be left to stand alone. ==
Poland and Latvia? Who could be surprised?:) The trades with Poland is about 3 bln of dollars? Then next year it will be 0. Latvia lost the supply of oil already then will lose the supply of NG:).
Is America to be so fragmented over the world, that her home defenses are non-existent?
Pat Buchanan is deeply saddened.
