Responding to Russias bullying of Estonia (see EDM, April 27, May 1, 3) the U.S. White House has invited Estonian President Toomas Ilves to meet with U.S. President George W. Bush on June 25 in Washington. The invitation itself, and the announcements timing in May, is the strongest demonstration of support for Estonia against Russias escalating threats since April 26. Estonias presidential office as well as the ambassador to the United States, Juri Luik, remarked that the invitation validates Estonias policy choices: democracy and freedom as Western values at home, participation in NATO-led peacekeeping missions, and assistance to countries in the European Unions eastern neighborhood.
Bush and Ilves last met in late November 2006 in Tallinn, two months after Ilves election as president. The scheduling of another presidential meeting only six months after the first, particularly with a small country, is a highly unusual move by the White House, signaling U.S. backing for Estonia all the more clearly in the present crisis.
Speaking at the May 5 commemoration of a U.S. diplomat killed by the Soviet military while over flying Estonia in 1940, U.S. Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns noted that free Estonias sovereignty is once again under attack. The entire U.S. government regards Estonia as a friend and ally and respects Estonias right to make its decisions independently in a free country, Burns noted. These unprecedently strong statements seem designed to discourage Russian escalation and adventurism in Estonia.
On May 2 the U.S. Senate passed a resolution condemning the riots in Estonia and attacks on Estonian embassies and supporting Estonias right to deal with internal matters, such as the relocation of the Red Army monument from Tallinn.

How about the police beating up the peaceful demonstrators there?
Is there government level of nazism there?
They were not “marches”. They were gatherings in Sinimae. If you know history you know what took place there. The surviving veterans who fought there simply gathered.
No flags or other symbols were exposed. Like I said before - it’s illegal.
You are trying to spin the truth.
I doubt you’d recognize man of honor even if he’d sit on your laps and lick your cheeks.
Don’t mix “honor” with “sentiments”, you are cunningly trying to mix both of those phrases, nice try but it won’t work with me.
Making business with Germans is a perfect way of dealing with our troubled past.
Russians live with sentiments, that’s another thing differencing you from any civilised country.
“You should know that Russians cannt smile in face and hate behind backs [...] So we absolutely cannt do that. The honor cannt be sold or bought for money.”
BS

Russians have no honor... at least most of them
Is America to be so fragmented over the world, that her home defenses are non-existent?
you know, there is funny thing about Ruskies...
When some monuments of Soviet opressors are being brought down or moved, whole Russia trembels in anger because those soldiers were supposed to be “liberators” to us, and they are the symbol of Russia, but when we recall all things that soviet soldiers have done (Katyn, Ostaszkow, Starobielsk, Kozienice, or how Soviet soldiers firstly crushed cemetary of polish soldiers in Lvov, then turned it into junkyard... farking hipocrytes), suddenly there are no Ruskies around...
My uncle was sent to Siberia among other 30,000 people. He was one of the first 10,000 in June of 1941. His crime? A potential anti-Soviet element because he just returned from Prague where he graduated from University and was suppose start a job in Ministry of Agriculture of Republic of Estonia.
When I grew up in Tallinn, there was (still is) a park at the end of my street which was leveled, because it was a cemetery for German soldiers. No bodies were relocated. They were simply bulldozed over.
There are plenty of war memorials for the fallen Soviet soldiers as well as concentration camp victims in Estonia.
This Bronze Soldier saga is nothing but an excuse for the Kremlin to agitate vandals and looters to steal and destroy to gain political points.
The Bronze Soldier is relocated to the peaceful Cemetery of Defense Forces where he belongs - among the graves of his comrades.
He has been visited by countless people since. Of course the same crowd that did the “demonstrating” has been a no-show.
Putin’s Russia glorifies the Soviet Communist Red Army and parades criminal Red Army occupiers around Red Square waving the Hammer and Sickle, with official sanction. Thus we conclude that Russia is a COMMUNIST country.
Soviet veteran dogs march with blessing of the neo-Soviet Chekist Putin regime, and Kremlin-organized parades waving the Communist Hammer and Sickle.
If that is the case, what does that make 'former' Russian government communist hacks, and hardcore KGB killers, like the one running the Kremlin?

Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was a creation of Stalin. Stalin wasn’t NO Russian but Soviet. And again year before 1939 in 1938 your Poland together with Hitler particioned Chekhoslavakia. WHY you always forget that?
“Many. The modern estonian nazies are simply the former estonian communist functionaries like the prime minister Ancip.”
If that is the case, what does that make ‘former’ Russian government communist hacks, and hardcore KGB killers, like the one running the Kremlin?==
It is good aurgument:). OK lets forget about the past of Ancip and Putin altogether:)..
Putins Russia glorifies the Soviet Communist Red Army and parades criminal Red Army occupiers around Red Square waving the Hammer and Sickle, with official sanction.==
That is because only one reason: Red army was the army which together with american and british army broke nazi Germany. COmmon Joe, admit that WW2 was just on case of Soviet Union.
Soviet veteran dogs==
It is beneath contempt Joe. Will you call “dogs” american veterans too? After all they all fought same enemy.
“Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was a creation of Stalin. Stalin wasnt NO Russian but Soviet. And again year before 1939 in 1938 your Poland together with Hitler particioned Chekhoslavakia. WHY you always forget that?”
Why do you always forget that Poland crossed border of Czechoslovakia in region of Slask Cieszynski to defend Polish “minority” (around 75% of population there)from Nazis. Not even one Czechoslovakian was hurt, what’s more some of them asked Poles to protect them or asked for permission to move to Poland
It’s like second or third time I explain that to you, but you still don’t get it.
“Stalin wasnt NO Russian but Soviet” read my previous post- reply to vader69...that’s exactly what I was talking about:
“When some monuments of Soviet opressors are being brought down or moved, whole Russia trembels in anger because those soldiers were supposed to be liberators to us, and they are the symbol of Russia, but when we recall all things that soviet soldiers have done (Katyn, Ostaszkow, Starobielsk, Kozienice, or how Soviet soldiers firstly crushed cemetary of polish soldiers in Lvov, then turned it into junkyard... farking hipocrytes), suddenly there are no Ruskies around...
“
I just love this “this-is-not-my-hand-in-the-cookie-jar” attitude.
Oh yeah, damn americans.. they killed millions of Slavs [/s]

OK it is a “good explanation”. So every country has no rights to cross other one border to defend its minority?
And as I recall they say in soviet history books that the soviet tropps crosed polish borcder in 1939 just for same reason. To defend Ukranian and Belorus minorities.
Of cause I understand they couldn’t do it because they were Soviets. But the democratic Poland in 1938 has right to do same thing which you deny to Soviet Union, right?:)>

They are not symbols of Russia. BUT.. Soviet soldier was the liberators from Hitler.
Just consider. Poland lots 6 mlns during 5 years of nazi occupation, right? So what if that nazi occupation continued until now? My guess we hadn’t no Poles left to now. But because of those soviet soldiers crushed hitlerites we see no bold and ungratifing Poland.
Oh yeah, damn americans.. they killed millions of Slavs [/s]==
It was Joe who call veterans a dogs. Tell it to him.
Pat Buchanan is deeply saddened.
I am glad you admitted the truth in this case since after all it's very logical :) After 70 years of continuous communist indoctrination and, calculated brainwashing of millions of 'Red' grammar school pupils, it's impossible for all the hardcore commies and or the die-hard Nazi SS types to simply & abruptly go through an instantaneous metamorphosis and become holy saint like individuals....
