The difference between Limbaugh and Imus is that Imus’ audience was liberal, and would not put up with political incorrectness. Limbaugh’s audience is conservative, and will not put up with political correctness. So this “scandal” is actually going to help Limbaugh’s ratings, I think.

There’s another key difference: Limbaugh’s program is syndicated. Imus got bounced from the only radio station that carried his program. Limbaugh is much more immune to this kind of threat.

It wasn't audience reaction that caused CBS to fire Imus. It was the race-baiting lobby.
