Hokay. I got the last two stitches removed from my cornea today, so I'm running way behind. Sorry about that. Hopefully, however, that means that things will get back on track somewhat starting next week.
This is kind of a nothing week as the DBM don't have any big "scandal" that they can hyperventilate about. Even the Tenet book is turning out to be a bust and the "Washington Madame" is just embarrassing for ABC. Both the Democrat and Republican announced candidates have had their first debates and now the lazy screaming faces actually have to put forward some actual analysis that they can be held accountable for. And they're not up to it.
The various presidential candidates are less than engaging or inspiring, on both sides. The most activity seems to be about who the activists don't want, not who they do. The nutroots leading the Dhimmicrat candidates and the congressional leaders around by the nose is just appalling and is turning large sections of the electorate off, even as it energizes the most extreme elements of the moonbat left. On the other side the 100% crowd is getting more and more bitter and has gone into denial of the consequences of their stupid tactics in the last election where they "taught a lesson" to those dastardly Republicans. None of the Republicans who are acceptable to any of those factions (and they're all betting for or fighting against different ones depending on their particular single issue) have even the slightest chance of getting elected. The DBM has been strongly resisting reporting on Fred Thompson's (apparently very good) Lincoln Club speech, in part because I think they know that if and when he does get into the race he'll dominate it so completely that all of the other candidates, GOP and dim, will look like pygmies. And his strategy of staying out and letting the others have at one another seems to be brilliant. He's the only one that appears even remotely presidential.
Below are the Sunday shows, in the order they come on in my market
NBC Meet The Press gives their full hour to an "exclusive" interview with George Tenet, former director of the CIA under both Clinton and Bush and author of a self serving and already discredited book. Among the many problems with this whole thing is that it appears that Tenet is also going to be on CNN's Late Edition, so there just seems to be all sorts of inaccurate information associated with Mr. Tenet. It still isn't 100% clear if this is or is not going to be an exclusive interview as the listing of Tenet's appearance on CNN is still up on CNN's web site but the listings in the newspaper web sites don't include it (they have Jim Gilmore who isn't listed on CNN's site). Maybe it's a CIA plot? Whatever, it's pretty silly and Lil Timmah is probably going to be embarrassed when all is said and done. I almost guarantee you that the tone he'll take is that Tenet wasn't critical enough of Bush.
CBS Face The Nation serves up Charlie "them troops is stoopid" Rangel and Newt "Greenpeace" Gingrich with the listed topic of "war and politics." No, seriously, those are the main guests and the topics. I think I'll look up how to make my own cheese instead.
Fox News Sunday continues their valuable service of introducing us to the candidates who we've never heard of before. This week it's Chris Dodd of Connecticut just two weeks after he did the same kind of show on ABC This week. No, seriously, that's the main guest. At least John Boehner will be on to discuss the spectacle of the moonbats dictating the terms of debate in our nations capital. You don't suppose he'll actually start calling Nazi Pelosi and Harry Reid on their increasingly insane behavior? I mean, they are exhibiting all of the signs of someone like Seung-Hui Cho. It makes you wonder who Webb's aid was really carrying that loaded gun past security for. The big hope is that Chris won't let Juan run out the clock as he has for so many weeks and Brit will get a chance for a good smack down. I'm running out of reasons to watch their show if that doesn't come back soon.
CNN Late Edition has Richard Lugar, an overwhelming disappointment, and Chucky Schumer (you knew he would be on one of these shows), perhaps the most annoying man in the world. Do you suppose Wolfie will ask any questions about Chuck's hypocrisy in the Gonzalez matter when compared to his own actions in the crimes committed by his staff in the campaign attacks on Michael Steele? Nah! Republican presidential candidate Jim Gilmore is listed in many of the on-line previews of this show, but not on CNN's site, so who knows, but he apparently garnered some good reactions to some of the things he said in the "debates." We'll see. Three Middle East diplomats, the Syrian, Egyptian and Iraqi ambassadors to the US, bring us the view from that part of the world of our actions. What with the summit meeting this last week in Egypt on the future of Iraq that could actually be interesting. I'll be particularly interested to see if President and Secretary of State Nazi Pelosi gets mentioned by the Syrian ambassador. The CNN site then says that George Tenet will be one to pimp his book, but I've already discussed that whole mess. Maybe this is a Potemkin interview? Oh that crafty CIA!
ABC This Week gives us dueling presidential candidates, one from each party. John Edwards goes first and will no doubt be lavished with praise and doubtless be given every opportunity to dispel those nasty stories about his hair with some self deprecating humor so that he can start invoking the "old news" mantra the Dhimmicrats love so much. Tom Tancredo will be exposed as the Nazi war criminal and psychotic racist that he is. Hey, it's ABC. Ted Koppel gets a chance to pimp his Discovery Channel show exploiting his friend with cancer to prove his relevance. Is it wise to have both John Edwards and Ted Koppel on the same week? It doesn't sound like good planning to me.
The Saturday shows are half over as I write this, with the Boys and the Newswatch crew already having delivered their pearls of wisdom. Mea Culpa. The Beltway Boys were about like I expected, serving up the conventional wisdom from the Washington cocktail party circuit. In other words, meaningless drivel. Fox News Watch served as a platform for Neil Gabler and Jane what's her name to indulge in Bush Derangement Syndrome, unchallenged as usual. CNBC's Tim Russert Show is on now with an opportunity for Lee Iacocca to pimp his new book. I'm watching the History channel. Well after I'm in bed this evening the only show worth watching on Saturday, The Journal Editorial Report, will be on Fox with a report on Fred Thompson (no doubt the Lincoln Club speech will be covered), the Dhimmicrats sell out of US citizen's to the trial lawyers and a discussion of anti American propaganda on government funded broadcast channels overseas.
Overall a lackluster week with very little redeeming value to it. I'll be interested to follow the Sunday thread but I doubt I'll even listen in the background tomorrow morning.
This should be cross posted to my blog at Wizards.townhall.com later today. I have finally caught up over their and I hope to keep up to date from now on. In fact I'm going to change the format just a bit when posting this in light of the success of the technique I used to get caught up. This analysis will still be first but then I'm going to try putting all of the show by show posts into one big Post number 1. If I end up falling back to separate posts you'll know that I found an upper limit to the length of FR posts.
This thread exists primarily as a heads up for who is on the weekend talks shows, what they've been invited on to push (based on their recent pronouncements) and the spin (meme) the DBM is likely trying to push based on that information. All of this is prep work for the weekly Sunday Morning Talk Show thread posted by Alas Babylon!. That thread provides a live commentary and analysis of the Sunday talking head shows, with valuable insight and exceptional fact checking. we are the Jedi Council of FreeRepublic, at least in regards to these DBM gabfests. You wanna know what was said and what it meant, as well as where they messed up? Read that thread!
Mark Kilmer has posted his excellent preview of the Sunday shows over at Redstate.COM.

PingThe Weekend Talk Show Preview Thread is up
It will also be cross posted (sometime soon... maybe) to my blog at
http://wizards.townhall.com/
Here's a sample of my usually witty commentary...
As mentioned in the thread I got the last 2 stitches taken out of my eye so I'm kinda limping along for today. I'm more encouraged by this visit than the last as the computer topography of my eye was better and the main areas of astigmatism remaining were centered around those two last stiches. I go back in mid June and we'll see if things look good for trying to fit a contact lens and finally get me some vision out of that eye. Hopefully this edition of the soap opera is near over.

Thank you Phsstpok, for your great analysis (as usual ;’}
I’m finding the excuse-making easier every week to miss the Sunday morning yak-yak shows. I guess it was inevitable...sooner or later I’d realize that there wouldn’t be even a tertiary attitude expressed in any of the issues that concern me.
It’s one thing to take the good with the bad, but geez, is there nobody left on the boob tube that speaks for me?!

I happened to hear Senator Kit Bond being interviewed by a Fox babe this morning. He was IN IRAQ. I guess none of the Sunday shows would find his on site observations worthy of a Sunday interview.
