All Eyes on Baghdad
All the pros and cons on the war have been aired. Weve read all the tell-all books by Woodward, Ricks, Gordon, Trainor and the rest that now contradict the arguments and theses of what they wrote about the 1991 warthat then we should have done what we are doing now, which in turn should now be what we had done then.
All the once insider geniuses like Clark, Scheuer, ONeil and Tenet have sold their tell-all accounts in which they were brilliant and all else obtuse. Feith has been called a dumb _____ by almost everyone in DC. Libby is facing jail for something or other, but most certainly not what the Special Prosecutor was supposed to be looking for; Wolfowitz faces an ouster: so much for bringing up to your board that you might have a conflict of interest down the road.
Weve suffered through the distortions of Michael Moore and know that Cindy Sheehan once thanked President Bush for meeting with her. Weve heard that the US military is akin to Saddam, Nazis, Pol Pot, or Stalin from the likes of Sens. Durbin and Kennedy, that America is a pariah from Sen. Kerry, that the war is lost from Sen. Reid and Howard Dean, and about everything imaginable from poor Sen. Biden.

And the Palestinians wonder? <...snip...>
What is it about the Palestinians? <...snip...>
Refugees? <...snip...>
Violence? <...snip...>
So why just the Palestinians? <...snip...>
Why? <...snip...>
What to Do? <...snip...>
Dont forget Syria. <...snip...>

Such a simple solution. Too bad the Dems are more interested in pleasing their dysfunctional constituencies than drilling Anwar and building nuclear plants.

The Muslims and their western Liberal allies are literally AT WAR with all the rest of the world. Forget the national boundaries, forget previously inviolable allegiances, forget the traditional cohesion of English speaking vs. other peoples, forget everything you ever knew or understood about how the world and Western culture hangs together..... We are in a cultural crisis which will morph into an immediate, personal, irreversible and very concrete crisis for every living non Muslim on earth as soon as these murderers obtain the means to make it so.... I mean a nuclear device. Do not expect ANY consideration one way or another.... you and yours ARE the target! Talk about slavery...??? you will be lucky if that is all they demand from you, when the dust settles.
Yes, the chattering continues to be about everything except the consequences of withdrawing. What are the Democrats going to do AFTER withdrawing???
If the American public had even half the resolution and courage of America’s WWII generation, the battle would have long ago been won - because defeat would have never been considered as an option.
We should give not a cent to any government in Palestine. Americans might wish the people there well, but explain due to their vehement anti-American prejudices, we cannot accept any into this country, revoke the visas of those who are here, and politely ask them to settle their own differences with Israel.
He is putting the cart before the horse. The Saudi Lobby would prevent this.
We need to lessen the grip of these Oil Sheiks first and foremost, and then deal with ALL our enemies.
Perhaps with Gulf oil money, they can one day forget Israel, create a just society, foster a vibrant, non-corrupt economy, and then with confidence negotiate with Israel about borders. But until then, there is no reason to have relations with this government or its populace.
The problem with being in the public eye is that it prevents you from saying the obvious until billions$ have been spent and thousands have been killed.
“Its mothers milk is envy and jealousy that a displaced decimated people was placed down beside them in rock and scrub, and sixty years later built a humane, prosperous society that is a daily reminder to them that what they dostatism, gender apartheid, tribalism, feuding, religious intolerance, corruption, autocracy, polygamy, honor killings, etc.lead to the very opposite sort of society in which nothing is invented, no discovery is found, no security or prosperity is achieved, and hand-outs are demanded but never appreciated.”
Well, that’s a pretty good characterization of Palestinians but he forgot the 30% incestuous marriages to first cousins.

Heres how I think we should pull out of Iraq. Add one more front to the scenario below, which would be a classic amphibious beach landing from the south in Iran, and it becomes a strategic withdrawal from Iraq. And I think the guy who would pull it off is Duncan Hunter.

Split Iraq up and get out
***The bold military move would be to mobilize FROM Iraq into Iran through Kurdistan and then sweep downward, meeting up with the forces that we pull FROM Afghanistan in a 2-pronged offensive. We would be destroying nuke facilities and building concrete fences along geo-political lines, separating warring tribes physically. At the end, we take our boys into Kurdistan, set up a couple of big military bases and stay awhile. We could invite the French, Swiss, Italians, Mozambiqans, Argentinians, Koreans, whoever is willing to be the police forces for the regions that we move through, and if the area gets too hot for these peacekeeper weenies we send in military units. Basically, it would be learning the lesson of Iraq and applying it.
15 rules for understanding the Middle East
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1774248/posts
Rule 8: Civil wars in the Arab world are rarely about ideas like liberalism vs. communism. They are about which tribe gets to rule. So, yes, Iraq is having a civil war as we once did. But there is no Abe Lincoln in this war. Its the South vs. the South.
Rule 10: Mideast civil wars end in one of three ways: a) like the U.S. civil war, with one side vanquishing the other; b) like the Cyprus civil war, with a hard partition and a wall dividing the parties; or c) like the Lebanon civil war, with a soft partition under an iron fist (Syria) that keeps everyone in line. Saddam used to be the iron fist in Iraq. Now it is us. If we dont want to play that role, Iraqs civil war will end with A or B.
Lets say my scenario above is what happens. Would that military mobilization qualify as a withdrawal from Iraq as well as Afghanistan? Then, when were all done and we set up bases in Kurdistan, it wouldnt really be Iraq, would it? It would be Kurdistan.
