Climate change hits Mars

Mars is being hit by rapid climate change and it is happening so fast that the red planet could lose its southern ice cap, writes Jonathan Leake.

Scientists from Nasa say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Since there is no known life on Mars it suggests rapid changes in planetary climates could be natural phenomena

Mars has warmed .5 degree C since the 70’s. Is the melting point of water on Mars 0 degrees like it is here? What is the current temperature on Mars? What is the issue here? That it’s going to melt in 500,000 years?!

I read that too. Even if dust storms were related to the increased temperature, they can't just happen spontaneously; something, like solar activity, has to cause them.

THe warming of Mars is old news. What’s new is they’ve concocted a mechanism that points away from an increase in solar radiation.

If there is observed warming on Jupiter, look for published reports speculating on super Jovian volcanoes or whatnot.
