Will al qaeda-crat and all around anti-American newbie Senator (porn writer) webb lie down in front of the Lay barges and Rigs, refusing to allow them into Virginia waters?
Inquiring minds want to know how he will attempt to stop this... he’s a dim... American Energy Independence threatens part of their party's seditious plans!

Offshore oil production is fine in places like Louisiana and Texas, but don’t even mention drilling around the upper class areas. It might cause pollution.

Currently, the United States has 20 World Heritage Sites and 47 Biosphere Reserves encompassing 51 million acres - an area nearly the size of Colorado.3 The U.S. is required to regularly report to the U.N. on the status of its World Heritage Sites, specifically its “preservation and protection techniques and its efforts to encourage public awareness about cultural and national heritage”.

...but dont even mention drilling around the upper class areas. And forget about windmills off Martha's Vineyard, too. Might spoil 'ole fat Teddy's view (assuming he can see that far throught the scotch haze)

"The U.S. is required to regularly report to the U.N. on the status of its World Heritage Sites." I hereby declare my 3 acres (which exist within the borders of the entity
formerly known as "The United States of America"), a free and independent state,
and a World Heritage Site (where trespassers will be shot on sight).
Am I elligible for any world financial assistance?
In keeping my state free of trespassers, that is?

And Rita and Katrina did not cause massive spills - just slowed things down abit.

Ain’t gonna happen. The environmentalists will not be happy until we are all on bicycles and the upper crust is not concerned about the cost of oil.

Environmentalists say drilling might pollute Assateague Island and Chesapeake Bay. Virginia's barrier islands have been designated a U.N. World Biosphere Reserve and a National Natural Landmark. DelMarVa PING!!!!

I wish it were true. The U.S. needs to achieve energy independence. But I believe it will never happen. OPEC has too much money to spread around in Congress to allow any competition with the Middle East.
On the one hand it makes sense to use the finite resources of other countries first. Whey Middle Eastern oil wells run dry the Arabs will return to their tents and camel-dung fires.
On the other hand, we cannot allow OPEC to jerk America around like a puppet on a string.
A scary thought: Saudi Arabia could close down the American economy any time it chooses.

This happened with the National Parks back in the 90’s. I didn’t realize Assateague was part of it though. Guess they included National Seashores as well. And, if I remember correctly, it is by treaty, not law, so it supercedes any laws.

Come to think of it, if it involves the National Parks, it does include Assateague as it is considered a national Park.......at least it does when it comes to the annual pass, which is good at all National Parks.
That reminds me, I need to renew mine. I’ll get my new one Wednesday, we’ll beover there anyway for the seafood festival :)

Environmentalists say drilling might pollute Assateague Island and Chesapeake Bay Who cares what some political activists think, and especially what they say. They mentioned Assateague Island because it is a new word; nobody cares about Assateague Island or is concerned to any measurable degree. Pollute Chesapeake Bay? Even better, this might pollute the North Atlantic from Venezuela to Newfoundland and from Florida to the Azores.
