Don’t forget to join IDPA, IPSC, or some other practical pistol competition as well as getting a tactical pistol course on your shooting resume.

I would encourage some these classes, if you've not taken them already:

Defensive Handgun Series
Street Survival Series
Social Shotgun Series
Tactical Carbine Series
Team Communications
Tactics and Techniques
Fighting Folders
Impact Weapons (baton and walking stick)
Dissimilar Weapons Training (Filipino Martial arts)
Attactics, Combato, Ground Fighting
Shinkendo and/or Fighting Saber

These will help develop a combat mindset, confidence with a wide variety of tools and the physical conditioning necessary to pull it off if that "oh, sh*t" senario comes your way.
