George Herman Ruth, Jr. (February 6, 1895 – August 16, 1948), also known as “Babe”, “The Bambino”, “The Sultan of Swat”, and “The Colossus of Clout”, was an American Major League baseball player from 1914-1935. Ruth is regarded by many historians and fans as the greatest baseball player of all time, due to a combination of his on-field accomplishments and records; his significant roles both in changing the way baseball is played and in establishing the New York Yankees dynasty; and his resulting worldwide name-recognition. He is a charter member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The cat, nicknamed Macavity, has one blue eye and one green eye.

The cat was nicknamed Macavity after the mystery cat in T.S Elliot’s poem. He gets on the bus in front of a row of 1950s semi-detached houses and jumps off at a row of shops down the road which include a fish and chip shop.

Driver Bill Khunkhun, 49, who first saw the cat jumping from the bus in January, said: “It is really odd, the first time I saw the cat jumping off the bus with a group of passengers. I hadn’t seen it get on which was a bit confusing.

“The next day I pulled up on Churchill Road to let a couple of passengers on. As soon as I opened the doors the cat ran towards the bus, jumped on and ran under one of the seats, I don’t think any of the passengers noticed.

“Because I had seen it jump off the day before I carried on driving and sure enough when I stopped just down the road he jumped off - I don’t know why he would catch the bus but he seems to like it. I told some of the other drivers on this route and they have seen him too.”

Since January, when the cat first caught the bus he has done it two or three times a week and always gets on and off at the same stops.

Passenger, Paul Brennan, 19, who catches the 331 to work, said: “I first noticed the cat a few weeks ago. At first I thought it had been accompanied by its owner but after the first stop it became quite clear he was on his own.

“He sat at the front of the bus, waited patiently for the next stop and then got off. It was was quite strange at first but now it just seems normal. I suppose he is the perfect passenger really - he sits quietly, minds his own business and then gets off.”

One friend, Jim the Freak, calls me K (the initial of my given name). It’s a useful letter when I call talk radio.

Another buddy, Jenna, and I have reciprocal nicknames born of seeing “The Birdcage” together: we call one another Agador and Spartacus.

The people I work the Festival with tend to call one another by a hybrid of our real names and our past and current characters, so I get called Margarita and Dances on Tables fairly often, and Ralla and Xen to a lesser extent.

FReepers call me X or Xena. Even in real life, sometimes. See the wedding thread for examples. ;)

My most common nickname was Otis. I was on the attractive side, homcoming princess, cheerleader, etc. etc., yet everybody called me Otis even teachers.

My mother wrote on my life preserver while we were camping at the Colorado River when I was 4 years old, and it stuck. May she’d had too many, and named me after the famous drunk in the Andy Griffith show.

Now only old friends call me that. But I love to hear it. I will look if you say that name, and it makes me nostalgic.

Mine is Buzz. I got it in high school because I kept bees and because I didn’t party. The ones who did got a kick out of saying “hey Buzz, wanna catch one?”.

Thanks for your service Sergio Strangely enough, my wife is trying to get me to finish cussing. It's kinda sorta working. Amazing what a good woman can do for a man. As to my time in the service, you are very welcome, and it was entirely my honor to have done it. I owe this country much more than I can ever give it in return.

That’s a cool name. I like it alot.

I called my grandma ammo for the same reason. An older cousin said it as a baby and I grew up thinking everyone called their grandmother “ammo”
