The Rudy Giuliani Truth File in his own words and deeds

The Rudy Giuliani Truth File in his own words and deeds - quotes, speeches, transcripts, clips, reports

This is the start of a series of threads that will be used to expose the truth about Rudy Giuliani in his own words and deeds.

Please post all of the quotes, speeches, interview transcripts, video clips, photos, newspaper/magazine articles, reports, records, statistics, NYC budgets, NYC spending, political appointments, gun grabs, connections to the gun control lobby, lawsuits against gun manufacturers, the truth about crime reduction in NYC, private property grabs, asset forfeitures, abuses of office, individual rights trampling, constitution trampling, violations of public trust, violations of the rule of law, national security risks, failures in security preparedness prior to and after 911, corruption, graft, bribes, favors, union dealings, mob dealings, business dealings leveraged through government contracts and contacts, rainmaking for his business partners, connections to US, Middle East or South American oil and energy companies and law firms that have profited and or will profit from Giuliani's government offices especially if he becomes president, war profiteering, his personal and business finances, his train wreck of a private life and lack of character, lack of qualifications for high office, illegal alien sanctuaries, welfare for illegals, pandering to illegals/illegal alien lobby, support for the abortion and gay rights lobbies, NARAL connections and participation, past and current support for McCain-Feingold, connections and dealings with liberal officeholders or the liberal/socialist caucuses/lobbies, etc, etc, etc, that you can find.

We're primarily interested in the words from his own mouth or primary source records and reports of his deeds/misdeeds. All submissions must contain true facts with documentation and links to source documentation and a link to FR thread on the individual item if available.

We do not need to embellish the record. The ugly truth from his own liberal mouth will impeach his credibility and the reader will be able to disqualify the man from consideration for high office based solely on his own words and deeds.

Here's an example entry:

Rudy on gun control: "You've got to REGULATE consistent with the Second Amendment"

FOX News | Feb 6, 2007 | Hanity and Colmes

http://www.freerepublic.com/^http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,250497,00.html

HANNITY: Let me move on. And the issue of guns has come up a lot. When people talk about Mayor Giuliani, New York City had some of the toughest gun laws in the entire country. Do you support the right of people to carry handguns?

GIULIANI: I understand the Second Amendment. I support it. People have the right to bear arms. When I was mayor of New York, I took over at a very, very difficult time. We were averaging about 2,000 murders a year, 10,000...

HANNITY: You inherited those laws, the gun laws in New York?

GIULIANI: Yes, and I used them. I used them to help bring down homicide. We reduced homicide, I think, by 65-70 percent. And some of it was by taking guns out of the streets of New York City.

So if you're talking about a city like New York, a densely populated area like New York, I think it's appropriate. You might have different laws other places, and maybe a lot of this gets resolved based on different states, different communities making decisions. After all, we do have a federal system of government in which you have the ability to accomplish that.

HANNITY: So you would support the state's rights to choose on specific gun laws?

GIULIANI: Yes, I mean, a place like New York that is densely populated, or maybe a place that is experiencing a serious crime problem, like a few cities are now, kind of coming back, thank goodness not New York, but some other cities, maybe you have one solution there and in another place, more rural, more suburban, other issues, you have a different set of rules.

HANNITY: But generally speaking, do you think it's acceptable if citizens have the right to carry a handgun?

GIULIANI: It's not only -- I mean, it's part of the Constitution. People have the right to bear arms. Then the restrictions of it have to be reasonable and sensible. You can't just remove that right. You've got to regulate, consistent with the Second Amendment.

HANNITY: How do you feel about the Brady bill and assault ban?

GIULIANI: I was in favor of that as part of the crime bill. I was in favor of it because I thought that it was necessary both to get the crime bill passed and also necessary with the 2,000 murders or so that we were looking at, 1,800, 1,900, to 2,000 murders, that I could use that in a tactical way to reduce crime. And I did.

You still haven’t been able to document even one of the 13...

Too bad you can’t be honest about your intent, but must play coy games.

Okay. You’re coming into the middle of a conversation, so I’ll let it slide that you haven’t read this conversation completely. But take a breath and listen:

I am against all abortion, even in the case of rape and incest, and maybe even if the mother’s life is at risk (I’m not kidding). It should be outlawed everywhere by the FEDERAL government — I would not even be happy if it were left up to the states. Read this paragraph several times if you need to soak it in.

I am neither defending nor attacking Giuliani, neither supporting nor opposing him at this time. it is WAY too early for me to make up my mind about this. There’s a lot about him I like, and a lot I don’t.

But I don’t place my trust in leaders or government. I place my trust in God, and know that God is choosing our president, not us. He places all persons of authority in their positions at the moment it suits him, and removes them when it suits him. Even when we can’t make sense of it at the time.

ALL I AM DOING IS ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT AND DISCUSSING UNDERLYING ISSUES about gun control vs. gun rights, and, more important, the relationship between our beliefs in government, and our beliefs in God’s word. It seems that on FR, people decide their positions first on whether it is conservative or liberal. If it’s conservative, they rubber stamp it, and then find a way to make the Bible support their view.

God’s word comes first. We are under his authority. He tells us to obey our laws. AND OUR LAW STATES that we can dispose of our government and replace it with a new one ANYTIME WE NEED TO.

If you have questions, or want a meaningful discussion, i am at your service.

Please do your best to read a conversation in its entirety before you join it and start making assumptions about what the other person thinks or has meant to say.

No cigar, Czar. READ THE ENTIRE THREAD. READ THE ENTIRE THREAD. READ THE ENTIRE THREAD.

I grew up in rural gun-toting Minnesota and lived in MN until 1999, when I moved to the greatest city in the world (so great they named it twice).

Please don’t interpret one or two posts on this thread out of context of the entire thread. Read it thoughtfully (if you’re really interested in what I think) and try not to freak out if you read something that is outside your view. I am happy to explain myself to anyone who cares to listen.

Next time you come to Manhattan, I’ll buy you dinner. Promise.

Same goes to any non-New Yorker FReeper. Dinner on me, anytime you’re in Manhattan. Kids included.

"READ THE ENTIRE THREAD."

I have.

You have a typical NY liberal's attitude toward guns. That means you and I, and you and any conservative, are worlds apart.

The Second Amendment: no exceptions, no "clarifications" and no compromises.

But thanks anyway for your generous offer of dinner the next time I'm in Manhattan.

The Second Amendment wasn’t written for selective regions. New Yorkers should be able to own a weapon for protection if they wish.

The Sullivan Laws have made gun ownership very difficult for the average man or woman. They should be nuked like the ones in DC. In Arizona, I can strap on a holster and walk down the street. I used to do it.

There should never be a time you cannot use a firearm to defend your home and family, in NYC or anywhere else. And you shouldn’t have to ask your local cops for permission.

While his handlers present Rooty Giuliani as the "new" Republican, in point of fact, Rooty is the linchpin in the The Big Plan to throw social conservatives off the Repub flotilla.

Rooty is the manufactured candidate of The Everything-For-Us-Nothing-For-Conservatives crowd.

LOSER RUDY EXHIBIT ONE Giuliani ran three times for mayor on New York's Liberal Party line. At the same time he distanced himself from the state’s influential Conservative Party, even refusing to foreswear P/B abortion that would have gotten him conservatve backing. Others question Rudy’s loyalty to the party. In New York’s hotly contested 1994 gubernatorial race he endorsed liberal incumbent Democrat Mario Cuomo against a Republican (Cuomo lost despite Julie's backing).

LOSER RUDY EXHIBIT TWO Giuliani’s flawed judgement rasied eyebrows in the aftermath of 9/11 when, drunk with power, Julie sought to suspend the city’s election laws to extend his mayoral term of office. Even blase liberal NY'ers wouldn't buy Julie's naked power grab.

LOSER RUDY EXHIBIT THREE He has demonstrated he is not fit to handle national security. The myth about Giuliani's credentials on homeland security, and military matters.....is manufactured by his handlers.

CASE IN POINT: Giuliani, recently lost his campaign's critical vulnerabilities playbook. Julie-Annie publicly blamed the "opposition" (Hillary's old VRWC trick). Julie-Annie wanted us to believe that an airport employee knew precisely in which bag, and in which binder the critical documents were, sneaked them out of the bag, copied them, then stealthily returned them to the bag without anyone knowing it.

Giuliani's campaign organization obviously has a leaker, and Julie-Annie did not deal with it? He placed blame on "someone" at the airport. If he was so sure it was an airport employee, did he demand an investigation? Did he file charges? He did not because he knew the story was bogus. .......and don't forget that Julie-Annie is the owner and operator of a multi-million dollar "security" company (formerly known as Giuliani-Kerik LLC).

LOSER RUDY EXHIBIT FOUR "Security expert" Rudy co-opted GWB into naming his mobbed-up buddy, Bernie Kerik, as Home/Land/Sec chief (Kerik is Rudy's former driver and bodyguard). Kerik was ushered out the WH door when dirt spilled about his hiring an illgal nanny. Married Kerik was also having trysts in an apartment set-aside for 9/11 workers. Kerik later pleaded guilty to misdemeanors for accepting gifts from a company that was trying to do business with New York while he was corrections commissioner. Giuliani and Kerik were partners in a SECURITY company, and Julie-Annie STILL didn't vett Kerik (leaving GWB with egg on his face on the global stage)?

Security expert---that's a laugh. I wouldn't let Giussolini walk my dog.

Here’s a good book for you to get a start on educating yourself on that subject. You happen to have stumbled upon probably the most important question in history, so it’s not something you just want to toss off and ask someone who you think knows the answer — you need to investigate this for yourself. This book only takes about 2 hours to read, it’s not difficult material, actually a very well written book. In fact, I might go so far as to say this is the best book I have ever read, ever. So go ahead and invest $5 and 2 hours in your future.

You’ve done a good job here informing the public of Rudy’s faults. I am a New Yorker and I thought he did some good things as Mayor, but you have to realize that this is because his predecessor was a left wing liberal who obviously hurt New York.

Rudy was good as the lessor evil in New York. But nationally, he will not motivate true conservatives across the nation that elected George Bush twice, even with all the negative press the President receives.

Keep up the good work!

Neponsit Refugees Win $5 Million Settlement from City

Overlooking the ocean on Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 148 Street quietly stands the vacant Neponsit Health Care Center, which once was home to nearly 300 senior citizens, who Monday were awarded a $5 million settlement from the city in compensation for trauma suffered from the abrupt 1998 closing of the facility.

Shortly after a Labor Day storm in September of 1998, which caused structural damage, the Neponsit nursing home was completely evacuated over a two-day period without prior notice to the patients, their families or the staff. Residents, some of whom had lived at the nursing home for 15 years, were bused to a number of different hospital wards and nursing homes across the city.

The mass transfer was so sudden that some family members learned of the transfer from watching the news. "They were moved out like cattle in the night," said Lew M. Simon, Democratic District Leader. Elderly patients were left confused and uncertain of their own whereabouts. A 71-year-old woman was missing for several days immediately following the closing of the Neponsit home. "Some people couldn’t find their teeth after [the move]," said Audrey Pheffer, Assemblywoman.

"According to the Giuliani administration, the buildings were in imminent danger of collapse," said John Gaska, district manager Community Board 14. Though almost five years later (9 years now) all four brick buildings of the Neponsit Health Care Center stand intact. "We all know that it was not at the brink of falling down," said Pheffer.

In February and March of 2000, Merritt & Harris, Inc., hired by the City Council, conducted an independent structural survey of the Neponsit home. "We were retained to see if the buildings were in imminent danger of collapse," said Peter Brady, Project Manager, Merritt & Harris. "We concluded, no." The buildings were in "fair to good structural condition" according to the March 2000 Merritt & Harris report.

Once they were able to get their bearings, the 278 residents of the Neponsit Health Care Center filed a class action lawsuit against the city alleging massive violations of the due process rights of the residents who were evacuated without prior notice, according to April Newbauer of The Legal Aid Society, who represented the plaintiffs. Under a settlement reached Monday, each patient will receive $18,000 and for the 110 who have died since September 1998 the settlement money will go to their families. "All the money in the world is not worth what took place that day," said Brenda Tripp, daughter of Eunice, a Neponsit patient. In addition, the city agrees to provide prior notice, preparation and discharge planning in the event that the city intends to transfer 100 or more nursing home residents, according to The Legal Aid Society. "When you move someone frail, medically it can have devastating consequences," said Newbauer.

Unlike many communities, Neponsit embraced the nursing home on Rockaway Beach Blvd near Riis Park. "The community was quite upset [by the closing]," said Michael O’Connor, President of the Neponsit Property Owners Association. "It was disturbing to all of us." Supporters, including union members and residents, held rallies in which they stood outside the nursing home alongside a casket, said Simon, who one day wants to retire in the Neponsit nursing home. Though the lawsuit has been settled, after a nearly five-year battle, not all will give up the fight. "My dream is to get it re-opened, get the patients back, get the staff back," said Simon.

The four buildings that once served as a nursing home lies on land that is zoned as park land. If the property were to be used for anything other than a health related facility it must be park land. Once a site is determined to be park land it can only be changed by an act of the State legislature. The class action lawsuit filed by the former patients of the Neponsit nursing home was filed the day before a proposed demolition of the site. A federal court granted an injunction preventing demolition and the Neponsit Health Care Center still stands untouched to this day. In late summer or early fall Community Board 14 will sit down and discuss future plans for the site, said Gaska.

Small potatoes to most but very important to me.
