Who dares compare Rudy Giuliani to Ronald Reagan?

"Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide. My Administration is dedicated to the preservation of America as a free land, and there is no cause more important for preserving that freedom than affirming the transcendent right to life of all human beings, the right without which no other rights have any meaning." -- President Ronald Reagan, 1983

"If you agree with the church, theres no difference between murdering a one-year-old and eliminating a fetus its the same act. There is a moral consequence to the elimination of a fetus, but its not the same thing as murder. -- Rudy Giuliani, 1987 |

I could only find a tiny picture, but here is a picture of Reagan with another person in his administration, who had a much higher position than Rudy:
Yep the tiny guy in the tiny picture is Democrat James Webb.
The question is, who is more liberal: James Webb or Rudy Giuliani. It's a tough call; in Giuliani's favor he doesn't say he wants to quit the war in Iraq.
On the other hand, Webb and Rudy have been married the same number of times.

Chilling, sickening. But the editor in me says they wouldn’t have called the guy a “birthing technician”.
He’d be the “tissue removal specialist”.

Others get a helluva lot closer.

Republicans must get back to Regan, model and follow the clear path of conservatism it works every time Rudy and many other Republicans have no intention of getting anywhere near the Reagan model. Rudy has failed to even toss the tiniest fig leaf to conservatives. I believe he intends to win the presidency by slapping Conservatives in the face and return the Republican party to the Rockefeller era, banishing conservatives to the hinterlands.
Witness the way many of his supporters refer to any conservatives as wing-nuts, or right wing extremists.
There is no way I will support this man in his goal. And if the Republican party nominates him - I am no longer a Republican.

And James Webb is far more pro-gun.
Hmm. Tough call.

Indeed. I had this all set to fire off to that POS and decided to come back to smell the foul air and saw that Jim "euthanized it" already. Thanks Jim.
Death is the cure.
What an offensive POS you are. I suppose you'd vote to kill my 15 year old Autistic Son? When would you have done it? Shortly after his 2nd birthday when he was diagnosed? Today? Yesterday? Tomorrow? He and I just held a vote. We vote that you take one to the head for the Industry of Death you so proudly support! If my wife were alive today, she'd help you (RIP Baby). Come on tough one, take one for the team. How do you like them apples? I mean after all you serve no viable purpose, none that we can see. I truely hope you are as offended by my remarks as we are of yours. Blackbird.

That quote comes from the essay President Reagan in 1983.What a wonderful essay. It's easy to hear Reagan's soft, kind, clear voice speaking the words. I'm keeping this for future reference. Thanks for posting it.

I remember one couple (there were probably many) stepping forward, and begging to be allowed to adopt the baby. But the parents would have none of that.Just like Terri Schiavo's ghoulish "husband", who made sure she was starved to death despite the fact that her parents were begging to be allowed to care for her. Those among us who can't speak for themselves are so helpless.

Ping to an INCREDIBLY disturbing, but highly probable scenario that will be played out every day if the culture of death is allowed to succeed (and Hillary and Rudy would BOTH work to support the eugenicists).

No, he does not measure up. But then, who does? Reagan had a great [and potentially very dangerous] gift of charismatic leadership. Luckily for mankind, this gift is rare, for the likes of Reagan make maybe 5% of its possessors, while the likes of Hitler - at least 50%.This is exactly why I oppose Giuliani. I believe he does have the gift of charismatic leadership. How many people support him even though he opposes most of their beliefs, doesn't actually have a great record on terrorism, etc.? He's obviously not Reagan or Hitler -- but his record shows clearly that he recognizes no lawful, Constitutional contraints on his actions when he's in power. That disregard, combined with charismatic leadership, makes him a very poor choice for the presidency.

Charismatic leadership Rudy does not have. I saw it once with Reagan, first hand - and for a scholarly inclined observer it was like witnessing a volcanic eruption: fascinating, but dangerous. In '84 Ronald the Great came to Rochester NY for a campaign stop. The gathering was held at the local hockey stadium [War Memorial], 12-15 thousand people, a lot of security, and Reagan was projected onto a large screen. On the periphery of the crowd some protesters tried to unfurl some posters - and were spontaneously manhandled by the crowd [including middle-age women], and not by security. No command was given, it was absolutely spontaneous - organized things of this kind look differently, and I happened to observe it up close. This - the ability to inspire loyalty, even if misguided one - is the stuff charismatic leadership is made of. Mow, as for Rudy having it - spare me, please!
