BAGHDAD - Nine U.S. soldiers were killed and 20 were wounded Monday in a suicide car bombing against a patrol base northeast of Baghdad, the military said.An Iraqi civilian was also wounded in the attack on Task Force Lightning soldiers in Diyala province, a volatile area that has been the site of fierce fighting involving U.S. and Iraqi troops, Sunni insurgents and Shiite militias.
Of the 20 wounded, 15 soldiers were treated and returned to duty while five others and the Iraqi were evacuated to a medical facility for further care, the military said.
Identities were not released pending notification of relatives.
It was the second bold attack against a U.S. base north of Baghdad in just over two months and was notable for its use of a suicide car bomber.
On Feb. 19, insurgents struck a U.S. combat post in Tarmiyah, about 30 miles north of Baghdad, killing two soldiers and wounding 17 in what the military called a "coordinated attack."
It began with a suicide car bombing, then gunfire on soldiers pinned down in a former Iraqi police station, where fuel storage tanks were set ablaze by the blast.
Militants have mostly used hit-and-run ambushes, roadside bombs or mortars on U.S. troops and stayed away from direct assaults on fortified military compounds to avoid U.S. firepower.
“I swear I could invent a device that detencts bombs in cars and ROAD SIDE BOMBS ???????????/”
Well then, why haven’t you?
Looking for names, not wanting to call a friend whose son serves with 82nd, and I find you muttering to yourself.
I’ve gotta post this somewhere, and with you here it’s one of those, thank God for small favors, eh?

NBC Turns Deaths of Soldiers in Iraq Into Story on ‘Voices of Dissent’ Growing ‘Angrier’
The Democrats are directly responsible for the death of these soldiers. The Democrats give aid and comfort to the enemy by announcing that we’ve “lost” the war, and by announcing to the enemy that we’ll abandon the battle. The Democrats are the enemy within, taitors who deserve death by hanging.
we are waiting for your participation.
Note the title says car bomb kills, instead of Islamist terrrorists kill and the use of the words militant and insurgents instead of Islamic terrorists or Islamic extremists. We’re killing ourselves, in essence, because we glorify the evil and damn the good!
Soldiers who fight and win? Or sitting ducks who are trying to “keep the peace” and “police” the streets for democracy. I say we return our men to the role of soldiers who fight and win.
I second that!
“And Mogadishu.
Bin Laden said Americans won’t have the stomach for a prolonged fight. Even freepers are proving him right now.’
We are all emotional and lost great Americans today. Our men and women are the best trained and equipped military in the world. They want to do their job and kill the enemy. The President had his moment of stupid conservatism and is fully making sure ass-kicking can and will commence in Iraq and also Iran (although our action will be limited there, thanks to the left). Remember something. Our military is voluntary. Soldiers go to battle and some do not return. We grieve for them but let’s not further insult them by crying out doom and gloom. Our military is fighting them there with a 50 to 1 kill ratio. The bad guys will come here and inflict 50 to 1 on our civilian population if and when the military leaves Iraq. They are truly dying for each and every one of us. The self-centered asswipes on the left want to cut and run, like Vietnam and this time, the bad guys will use nukes from proxy terrorist countries we are fighting.
Anybody with a brain on this forum knows that Bush was right, Iraq, Iran and North Korea are an axis of evil. Our enemies are pushing back against us in the Iraq battlefield. However, they cannot face our troops head on. What does that tell you? The only real battles our enemies have scored on is doing their research for 30 years in how to manipulate global media. The media war must continue to intensify first against the left and then globally to make countries aware of who the real enemy is.
That's what I have been told by others. We're really not over there to actually defeat the insurgents, we are basically locked into a holding pattern waiting for the Iraqis to become competent enough to take over the reigns.
Your right and this is just not about Iraq,it’s about fighting Islam. They have said they want to take over the world and they have said they will attack us again,I think we must believe them. Where is the leadership in this country as a whole,we are all so very divided. Why does there have to be a greater attack on US soil for people in this country to understand the enemy.
My daughters boyfriend is over there right now and every day all night he drives back and forth, for heaven knows what, and thats all they do. I don’t know if it is some kind of fuel run or security runs but it takes all night. The other night their vehicles kept breaking down and it happens all the time.I am with you,are we providing targets are fighting a war?
The time for that is was past GONE!. Therein lies our mistake.
The mistake was not the 'going to war' action, like the Lib traitors want us to believe. The mistake was in NOT treating this war campaign like Germany and Japan. Bush and Rumsfeld wanted to fight this as a "PC" war, and it has cost us dearly!
This a true book case of "winnning the war and losing the peace"!
People.....
Listen up.....
THE U.S. MILITARY WON THE WAR! It's high time now for the IRAQIS TO WIN THE PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
