The Democratic strategy to use the ongoing violence in Iraq to their political advantage in the run-up to the 2008 elections requires some skill and nuance. But it's growing harder to believe Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid -- Nevada's own -- actually possesses those skills.
The Democratic strategy is anything but straightforward.
Sen. Reid and his colleagues know there is much political hay to be made by criticizing President Bush's planning and conduct of the post-war occupation. But they also know that while "cut our losses and pull out" plays well in Democratic caucuses, it failed in the Connecticut general election in 2006, when Sen. Joseph Lieberman and his anti-surrender stance handily defeated end-the-war candidate Ned Lamont -- even though Sen. Lieberman had to run as an independent to pull it off.
That's the kind of "poll" that really counts.
Thus, the Democrats' careful strategy requires them to appear to oppose Mr. Bush's ongoing occupation of Iraq (to please their pacifist base), without taking any concrete, "binding" actions to change the status quo.
Enter Sen. Reid, flopping around in big red shoes like Bozo the Clown.

When is Dingy Harry up for re-election again?
I thought no one could trump Daschle as a poor democrat Senate leader, but Reid surpasses him such that he is endangering our war effort, troops and national security!
Harry Reid IS Bozo the clown! His whole lib party is in fact.
—he’s two years into his term, but I’d bet on his retirement at the end of this one—
Reid is not a bit funny, especially if his statements kill U.S. Troops in the future.
Posted on a thread the other day, 2010. Not confirmed by me.
There, fixed it.
“Enter Sen. Reid, flopping around in big red shoes like Bozo the Clown.”
That is the best description ever of Reid, and coming from his home town paper, it has to hurt.
Now, let the artists begin to work.
After I posted that comment I thought I shouldn’t have lumped Bozo the clown in the same sentence with reid. So, we’ll just refer to rid as the white flag waving DUFUS who wants us to cut and run so the enemy can wait for us to leave then take over and reverse all the good we did there not to mention the blood the military shed there. Then we can sit and wait for another attack on the USA and reid and his gang of white flag waving dufuses can take the blame. He should be in prison!!!
some one should give Harry this from http://iraqthemodel.blogspot.com/
Its a great message to all those cut and runners....

End the war: Right message sent to the wrong address.
What did the last wave of terror attacks and the many crimes committed against our people all this time reveal?
If we look at how the media handles the situation we’ll find something like this almost everywhere;
Dozens killed, scores wounded in attacks suggest failure of security measures
It’s as if the speaker here wants to only emphasize the defect in security measures in a way that honestly angers and disgusts me.
When shall they realize, if ever, that we are dealing with brutal crimes against humanity, a genocide against the people of Iraq? Why don’t people talk about the cruelty of the crimes and expose the obvious goals of the terrorists behind the crimes?
Isn’t it everyone’s duty to expose the criminals, describe their sick ways and purposes and alert the world about the danger?
Where are the media when terrorists use chlorine poisonous gas, acids, and ball bearings to kill and hurt more and more civilians in utter disregard to all written and unwritten laws, ethics and values?
I understand it’s the duty of the media to practice scrutiny over the work of governments but isn’t it equally their duty to expose criminals and their evil deeds?
It’s frustrating to see the media turn a blind eye to the nature of the crimes and open fire on an honest endeavor to restore peace to a bleeding nation. I’m sure the terrorists are pleased by the coverage. Why not, when their crimes are being portrayed as successful breakthroughs against the efforts of Iraq and America it’s likely motivating them to keep up the killing.
Would it be “hate speech” to expose the terrorists for what they are?
I think our hate for their crimes must not be hidden; there is no shame in hating those blood-thirsty monsters.
Even more appalling I see and hear some people who think the solution is to end the war from our end and I can’t find an argument more naïve than thisI’ve seen enough wars in my life that I can’t remember a day when there was peace and I hate wars more than they can imagine. But we didn’t start his war; it’s the terrorists who started this war against life.
Instead of telling us to stop fighting back, I’d like to see some people stand up and protest the crimes of the terrorists and tell them to stop the killing and destruction
turn the stop-the-war campaign against the terrorists, is that too much to ask for?
Tell the criminals to stop killing us and stop attacking the people who are risking their lives fighting for liberty and equality.
We’re not asking the media and the stop-the-war crowd to carry arms and shoot the terrorists; we just want them to stop shooting at us.

I believe the Las Vegas Journal has endorsed Reid in every election in the past but stated in the past 6 months or so, they will never again. If this is true, Reid is losing his support at thome.
