Rosie on Catholic Justices: 'How About Separation of Church and State?'

Posted by Justin McCarthy on April 19, 2007 - 14:37.

On April 19, the ladies of "The View" offered their analysis of the Gonzales v. Carhart decision upholding a federal partial birth abortion ban. Most of the segment was a back and forth between Rosie O’Donnell, who clearly opposed the decision and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who supported it. Joy Behar and Barbara Walters chimed in occasionally with Behar clearly in the abortion rights camp and Barbara Walters mildly there. Video: Real (1.4 MB) or Windows (1.6 MB); plus MP3 (256 KB)

Rosie expressed horror that there are five Catholics on the Supreme Court and Catholics on the Court apparently violate the "separation of church and state"

Stupid comment. Sure the 5 Catholics voted to uphold the law — but where did the law come from in the 1st place? It was approved by Congress which certainly is not all Catholic and they passed the law in response to the demands of the constituients which are certainly not all Catholic either. Liberals are so used to the idea of the Court creating laws rather than interpreting laws, they miss this very obvious concept.

So I guess by her standards, a requirement to be on the SCOTUS is that you have to be an athiest?

Isn't Atheism a religion of its own, as is Human Secularism?

Does Rosie O'Bigmouth propose justices that believe or think nothing?

What really disturbs her immenseness is not that they are Catholic, so much, but that they are conservative who issued a ruling she doesn't like.

If you didn’t serve in the military you have no right to disagree with a liberal on national security issues.

And if you DID serve in the military, and disagree with a liberal, you're a warmonger and a bloodthirsty baby-killer...

The moral of the story is that lies are ugly and truth is beautiful.

Ummmm, the Constitution ***doesn’t*** speak of the separation of church and state. It only guarantees freedom OF religion.

“Huffing”

That would go a long way to explaining why she’s so stupid. That stuff kills brain cells by the million.

I have a question. Just why is Rosie even worried about this? She's a lesbian, right? Just how the hell is she going to get pregnant and have to worry about an abortion?

Stupid c-word! If listening to her doesn't make you a repub, nothing will!

Now look - I SAY, now look here, son, I can PROVE I'm not a baby-killer, because I can say
with certainty, that I have NEVER performed an abortion in my life!

After huffing all the nail-polish, what Rosie was trying to come to grips with in the mirror:

As bizarre as it may have seemed to her, the only conclusion she could come to was that as long as "Church" and "State" remained separate (but equal), all three could be amicable and it would all be good.

This is the horrifying realization: if that's really me, then just what are everybody else?

I’ve tried to think like Rosie, but I can never get my head close enough to my sphincter, let alone in past it.

Well, Rosie had better get off her fat ass and start campaigning against John Effin Kerry and Teddy "Waterwings" Kennedy, seeing as how they're both Catholics (at least that's what they claim).

I suspect five Evangelicals would terrify her at least as much.

I don’t know how those who work around her can stand her embarrassing lack of intelligence.
