Moreover, the likelihood of an AQ attack in such a way that I, with my shotgun, can affect the outcome is just silly. The next attack won't leave any room for guns. It will be big.
You are far more likely to face a criminal attack than a terrorist attack. On 9/11, 3000 people died in a nation of nearly 300,000,000; a tragedy to be sure, but a tiny fraction of our population. Far more people were affected by ordinary street crime that year, and every year since, than were affected by terrorism. Criminals, not terrorists, are the greater threat to your life.
Giuliani has proven track record of opposing gun rights. His record on combating terrorism is nothing more than vapor-ware. In light of that fact, odds are that his record on guns will get you killed long before his record on terrorism will save you.
Sorry, don’t see it that way. My concern about Rudy (or any Republican) taking my gun is about a 5 on a scale of 100. My concern about another terrorist attack is an 80.
Oh my. You can not measure a large scale attack merely by the loss of life from the actual act itself. What would the cost be if somehow the jihadists were able to destroy a city - or to disrupt our government in a significant way? What would be the cost of our nation’s power grid being debillitated? What would happen if our financial institutions were non-functional? The loss of life is the most tragic - but 911 cost us in addition to the loss of life. A larger scale attack - and we may not be so resilient.
