don’t think it will be one of the dim leaders. I think it’s becoming clear that hillaries negatives are too high and the electorate won’t go for a lightweight like Obama.
Look for Gore to step in later this summer. “for the good of the party”. He will be able to unify the moonbat wing and the rank and file....the whole dim party . Plus Hollywood loves him quick cash would be no problem. Also there will be no Nader. Remember he already won the popularl vote acting like like a 2nd grade teacher. I watched 10 minutes of his movie last nite and though I disagree with it I was impressed how warm and polished he came off. His hollywood handlers were worth every penny. He’s a LOT BETTER then he was in 2000.
He’s gonna be really tough to beat. I’m not sure Rudy...Thompson..or Romney can beat him. As for the rest of the Repub nominees....forgetaboutit.

I like all three of our guys.

What worries me about Romney is that he’s too slick by a half but I’m open.....

What worries me about Thompson (if he runs} does he have the fire to take on Gore? Also does he have the temperament to take on his own party? I worry that he could be another W. Say all the right things but be too much of a “good ol boy” and not be enough of a an asskicker to really slap around his former senate colleagues regarding earmarks...entitlement reform...tax reform...energy policy...the border...tort reform all the things that W with all three branches of government failed miserably on.
Though I’m also open.

Rudy does have that temperament. He slapped around the establishment in NYCity and it’s in his nature to do it again in Washington. I’m not worried about Rudy on the border the chaos down there should inflame his law and order sensibilities and I think he would clamp down. Currently he is the only one talking about are insane tax code and considering a flat tax....wonderful. He also brings up vouchers...great. He also talks about drilling in the gulf when all the other pols are worring about losing FLA...more great

That leaves guns and abortion that is judges. Rudy knows that to accomplish cleaning up our fiscal mess and waging war on our Islamic enemies not to mention holding off the dims and the MSM he will need the base including the socons firmly in his camp. I would expect him to give on those....

If he tried to pull something like nominating a Souter it would ignite a firestorm that would make the Miers pick look like nothing. He is not stupid enough to take on his own base when his plate will already be full

I’ve been spaming this for a whole...and guess what is on Drudge today...damn I’m good.

Giuliani is absolutely not “considering a flat tax” and that information was already posted to you on this thread.

I think your assessment of Mr. Giuliani is far too optimistic. When all is said and done, he's done little that disagreed with the politically correct sensibilities of rich NYC liberals. Obviously, he has more support among rich NYC liberals who have registered as Republicans, but they are largely the same. He ran a tighter city government than David Dinkins did. That's hardly an accomplishment. He reduced crime in NYC by prosecuting people very strongly for small infractions of the law. Maybe that strategy was necessary in NYC, but the rest of us don't want our neighbors thrown in jail for the weekend for crossing a road against the light. Ultimately, the rich NYC liberals knew something had to be done, and while they complained a little, they weren't going to be that upset at his crime control efforts. When he had to make a choice between standing for law and order regarding illegal immigration or cooperating with laws that might make rich NYC liberals lose their illegal alien maids, he sided with those who were benefiting from violations of our immigration laws.

Plenty of candidates are talking about flat taxes. I heard Mike Huckabee talking about the flat tax today. Vouchers are nice, but he's hardly original in supporting vouchers. (Vouchers will also appeal to his rich NYC liberal friends.) He offers us nothing original or unique on these kinds of issues.

The notion that he'll clean up things on the border because of his law and order background is just wishful thinking. If he really cared that much about law and order as it applies to immigration, he would have been willing to cooperate with INS when he had the chance.

Likewise, the notion that he'll support the rest of the party on guns and abortion is still wishful thinking. If he were already in office, he wouldn't need those of us who care about these issues. Based on his history, he'll revert to doing whatever pleases rich NYC liberals. Those people want guns outlawed and abortions paid for by our tax dollars. He'll do whatever he needs to deliver these results to them.

As many have said and it bears repeating, Rudy Giuliani is wrong for the country and wrong for the party.

Bill
