“Sober since 2-18-98”

Sober since 2-5-94, where I also learned restraint of tongue and pen, and the serenity prayer too.

He is a legend in his own mind. Can’t stop going everywhere to tell people how smart he is. He will never get a scientific journal wrote wasting his time bragging about himself.

>>I got really unhappy with Splenda a few months ago when I read a doctor’s report that the stuff DOES have calories. It can be advertised as zero calories under the arcane rules of federal bureaucracy,<<

Yep, by rounding even bacon could be a “zero calorie food” if you made the serving size small enough.

>>They wouldn’t have you anyway. They are far less tolerant of dissenting opinion than JR is. Here, they can support evolution. There, you can’t support creation.<<

Believing the first life was created doesn’t conflict with the evidence - rational scientists don’t argue otherwise. Its when someone claims that the earth is only 6,000 years old that people with science backgrounds tend to assume the person is not reasonable enough to bother with.

To clarify, the term “young earth creationist” is sometimes used.

It is not widely known, but that dating was not done by the Bishop of Ussher. It was done by a scientist -- one who would be on anyone's list of the top twenty who ever lived, Johannes Kepler. Ussher merely redid and checked the calculation later, and arrived at a nearly identical figure (I think it differed by twelve years). If I recall, Kepler published his result in Mysterium Cosmographicum (1596).

The calculation was, of course, biblical exegesis, and we suppose we have better methods of dating now.

Not the least of which is how long it would take to deposit the layers of the grand canyon, have them compress, bend and fold and then have water wear down through a mile of solid rock.

Unfortunately, some of these have already returned.

Meant to mention before, I came across a no-calorie chocolate sauce. This seems impossible, and you can't attribute this to a small serving size, but they insist -- zero calories. Stuff tastes pretty good, too.

On to no-calorie peanut butter.

Unfortunate indeed, unless they have a change of heart and rededicate themselves to Free Republic's philosophy and rules. We are all better parted unless we share the same broad conservative view and sense of fair play.

No, but I recall seeing one suspended, then she was back on in a couple of days, then disappeared again. I think they are all over at WideAwakes licking their wounds.

Indeed. It seems to me they would have a real problem arguing against equal rights for animals, pedophilia, bestiality, infanticide, etc. - or conversely, in favor of personal responsibility.

To say that the moral law is "whatever I say it is," and one person's moral law is just as good as the other guy's ("different strokes for different folks"), is tantamount to saying there is no moral law. Period. All becomes "relative" to the needs and desires of my ego....

You cannot have a just, secure society premised on such a shaky basis.... FWIW
