The Beaufort Gazette
A Blue Angel crashed Saturday afternoon while performing at an air show at the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.
Authorities say the pilot, still not identified, was killed in the crash.
It was not immediately known whether anyone else was hurt in the crash.
Emergency crews at the scene of the crash site called for the coroner about 4:20 p.m., indicating that the pilot was killed in the crash.
Police reports indicate that the Blue Angel clipped power lines near Shanklin Raod in Burton about 4 p.m. and went down about 30 minutes into the unit’s show at Marine Corps Air Sttion Beaufort.

Prayers for all involved.
F/A-18 has a zero-zero ejection seat. Pilot likely stayed to the very last instant, steering for an open area - then executed the boldface ejction procedure.
Last Blue Angle show we saw - one lost an engine on the 3rd crowd pass - the remaining engine must have been in “war Emergency” power setting, the Mach diamons seemed to streach for quite a distance from the aircraft. The A/C recovered just fine and #7 was used for the show the next day.
Not at a TV. Have you heard anymore. Personal interest!
Oh crap.
Breaking News: ‘Blue Angel’ jet crashes at Beaufort Air Show
April 21, 2007 03:49 PM CDT
BEAUFORT, SC (WIS) - WIS has learned from its sister station in Savannah that a plane in the Blue Angels flying squad has crashed at the Beaufort Air Show.
WTOC tells us that the jet crashed Saturday afternoon while flying in the Blue Angels’ performance. Eyewitnesses say the planes were flying in formation when one of the jets apparently crashed into a group of trees in a Beaufort neighborhood, starting several house fires.
It’s not yet known if there are any casualties from the crash or fires, or who was flying the plane at the time.

Prayers for all involved
MCAS Beaufort is where they were flying out of and eprforming, apparently.
weather was good,,, show had ended per a air show attendee and Blue Angels were flying in formation and going to land...
With their superhuman quick reaction times, God willing, the pilot was able to eject and the plane did no harm to any on the ground. Prayers for all concerned.
Thanks for the ping sofa. Just put on TV to FOX and watching now.
This is so sad. Sounds like pilot couldn’t eject.
Have seen the Blue Angels here different times.
See post 68
Prayers for the family.
We used to watch their show in Irvine Calif. our building was right next to El Toro airstrip.
Maybe, it is Saturday, the practices are usually during the week
