Report: Blue Angels Plane Crashes Into S.C. Homes
CNN Reports Homes On Fire
http://www.wftv.com/news/12736945/detail.html
POSTED: 4:34 pm EDT April 21, 2007
UPDATED: 4:48 pm EDT April 21, 2007
There are reports that a Blue Angels precision flight team member has crashed a plane during a show in South Carolina.
CNN reported that at least one plane crashed into a Beaufort, S.C., neighborhood. Several homes were reported to be on fire, according to CNN.
A man who said he was a witness told CNN that he was watching the show and there were six planes, then one vanished before he saw a black plume of smoke. He said he had watched the show for about 30 minutes before the crash.
Another witness, Gerald Popp, said he also saw a plane go down. He said there were thousands of people in attendance at the show.
The jets were flying out of Beaufort Marine Corps A.S., which is a military town. The Blue Angels were scheduled to fly in 66 air shows in 2007, according to CNN.

I had the privilege to see the BA perform years ago. They are spectacular. Prayers for the pilot and those on the ground.

Emergency crews ask for coroner Published Sat, Apr 21, 2007
Comments (0) Add Comment A Blue Angel crashed Saturday afternoon while performing at an air show at the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. Authorities say the pilot, still not identified, was killed in the crash.
It was not immediately known whether anyone else was hurt in the crash.
Emergency crews at the scene of the crash site called for the coroner about 4:20 p.m., indicating that the pilot was killed in the crash.
Police reports indicate that the Blue Angel clipped power lines near Shanklin Raod in Burton about 4 p.m. and went down about 30 minutes into the unit's show at Marine Corps Air Sttion Beaufort.

Same thing here, Jinxy.
Been to one of their shows and their routine is spectacular.......at low altitude. Sounds like a single A/C involved. Hope the aviator ejected safely but prayers all around for the aviator and those on the ground.

Every few years, there's a major airshow disaster. We were due for one, I guess.
If you allow airshows, this is part of it.
