Breaking on CNN a few minutes ago.
1 plane down in neighborhood, status of pilot or occupants unknown at this time.
Prayers from the Angel’s winter home. They practice twice daily in our skies almost unnoticed except for their spring adios show.
Okay, I give up.
In all fairness, I don't talk much about my background anymore.
But to answer your question, I have been both a military and commercial pilot. Most FReepers are well aware of my background, and I guess my original comments were not fair to those of you who don't know me.
BTTT, please. We have a flier down, not some egos up.
I’ve always thought that there were several different squadrons based at different Naval Air Stations. This was the way they were able to do so many shows; different squadrons went to different areas of the country.
#8 is a two seater, used to give media rides in each city where they visit. They select one TV, one Print and one Radio reporter for the ride of their life, after the Friday afternoon practice flights. They do NOT have any substitute pilots. They will fly with a slot missing instead of replacing a pilot, because the unit must train as a team to know each others habits in the air.
#7 is used to visit sites ahead of the rest of the team to perform logistics for the demonstrations.
Do you mean VF-143?
Yes, he’s a pilot. VF-143, USN.
i just think that in this moment (which btw my son is in the air as we speak at an air show in kentucky) people should use better judgement than to get into name calling and the kid game of i know better than you.
lets all just pray for the pilot and his family.
Careful. Pukin’ Dog is a former Tomcat driver. His opinion means a lot around here, noob.
Oh, good grief... those people really need to get a real life....
Dog, she’s a press info babe(comment #128)so, be nice and give her a break because she probably doesn’t have any brains; but, she may be a babe. Anyway, her, ‘er, vocation explains her comments.
Two of my pilot buddies on site say it had been a spectacular performance for the Blues and watched them perform the fan break when they realized #1 and #6 did not circle back to land.
Thats when they noticed a Blues jet circling with it’s smoke on flying over what turned about to be the crash scene.
However, it was not until the boss landed with #6 still missing that the show realized it had a plane down.
The two pilots heard emergency responders call for a life flight helicopter who said the pilot was alive.
Although a coroner has been called to the scene, its unclear if someone on the ground may have also been injured. One of the performers we talked to said he saw the Life flight helicopter fly away from the scene in the direction of Charleston SC.
There hasnt been any more information discussed by responders or with the show performers.

The newby
Are you talking to me?

Same here, about 20 years ago as NAS Dallas in the Grand Prairie area (it’s something else now, don’t remember)—got my picture taken next to one of the planes, and we got to say hello to some of the pilots, they were all very nice to the people visiting...this is so sad to hear. :*(
Prayers for the family and friends of the lost pilot, and for anyone who might have been hurt on the ground.
I’ve been working in Beaufort all week. They were practicing for the event for this weekend. They sure were making a racket.I had a weird feeling something like this was going to happen.
Has there been any confirmation that Lt DAvis was the pilot in the plane today?
Hi, Sweetsy babe, how are yew?
