Or the unit that lost the bird??

My understanding, as an aviation reporter, is that any airshow performer is instructed to dispose of the airplane in the safest manner possible before ejecting.
I will agree to disagree with you.

I did not fly the Hornet.
However, the Hornet is a FBW aircraft, and when it loses computer control, it reverts to a pitch and rudder authority condition.
We will know very soon what happened, but at tree level, there would have been no time at all to effect any kind of controlled maneuver. Had Davis had a chance to get out, he would have done so.

I doubt he was conscious. The only explanation for the demise encountered in total.

Was a chaperon on my sons 4th grade trip to the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island. The Imax movie was the Blue Angels, I have been hooked ever since.
I don't know if you saw my earlier post but the current CMD is a graduate of the HS my son now attends.
Small world.

My opinion is based on personal experience, from the pilot’s mouth.

Having some control is different than having no control. Gravity always wins in the end.

You can disagree all you want. It is fiction. The only instruction a military pilot, including the Blues or Birds, is from the military. All of the flight-demo teams are under the same instruction as any operational squadron.
Disagreement without knowledge is called 'ignorance'.

I’m confused (as usual) but Kevin Davis is shown as #7 in the 2006 photo.

I know who I am and who told me.
I don’t know who you are.
You could be some lunatic trolling this thread.

Had Davis had a chance to get out, he would have done so. Not if there were bystanders below at risk with an empty cockpit.

Thanks. What is FBW, and what does “pitch and rudder authority condition” mean?
I too am upset about this.

That's right. If the aviator lost power but had control, he'd go for altitude, sort things out or punch out.Take it out over the Broad River, and punch out.
