The festering bad blood between movie-star exes Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger erupted Thursday when an angry phone message from Baldwin to his daughter was made public. On the recording, Baldwin can be heard berating his 11-year-old, Ireland, "You are a rude, thoughtless little pig."
"You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being," he says, apparently upset that she did not answer her phone for a planned call.
"I don't give a damn that you're 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you're a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn't care about what you do as far as I'm concerned. You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone."
He goes on to say that he plans to fly from New York to Los Angeles "for the day just to straighten you out on this issue."

BTW, I don't believe that Kim has been a saint in all this. Releasing the tapes to the public in clear violation of a court order is inappropriate, IMO.
I agree!!! My thoughts are these things stay with children and mold them. These are curses he has placed upon his daughter (if you look at it spiritually, as a Christian). The Bible says God created by His word... and I believe we do as well. He created something in his daughter that he’ll pay for in years to come.

Inappropriate is for wardrobe malfunctions.
I think Kim Basinger showed good maternal instincts. It is a shame she did not have the same good instincts when she married that bully.

The problem with that is that Ireland is a child who has no choice about being a public figure, yet this very ugly case is all over the media and politicized, with people speculating and criticizing the actions of her mother, father and even herself.
When I was Ireland's age I was the subject of an ugly custody battle and I can't imagine what it would have been like if it was played out in the media. While none of us can know her feelings, you can bet she is suffering over her parents' behavior. IMO, there is clearly an inappropriate relationship between father and daughter, and even mother and daughter, with the end result being that the child is being told to choose sides, facing the enmity of the parent she doesn't choose.
There is nothing in the universe that could come from Kim Bassinger that could cause, influence, goad, or coax Baldwin in to speaking like this to his daughter.
He exposed what he is on the inside....a lunatic.
It was no trap...it was Alec being Alec...from out of the overflow of the mouth, the heart speaks.
Kind of a Stephen King moment -- who recalls the story about the presidential candidate whose election hopes are dashed when he is photgraphed shielding his face with a crying child while an assassin aims for him at a campaign rally?

How do we unravel the travesty - which is men and women choosing the wrong parent for their children?

Excuse me but parents who speak to their childeren like this are NOT normal...
you can claim your kids grew up just fine but that gives me pause to ponder your definition of “FINE”
This behavior is the exception and NOT the rule...if you think it’s understandable to speak to your kid this way then you have some serious social problems that you don’t seem to be aware of.
The fact that he was so angry at his daughter for not picking up the phone shows me that his perspective is all about Alec and nothing about his daughter.
If I was in the same position, I would have to ask myself what in my character is causing my daughter to not want to talk to me.
This is a seriously dysfunctional person and I have serious qualms about anyone who finds this understandable.....
And no, I have NEVER gotten so angry with my kids that I have cursed at them or spoke in such a way and I would say the majority of the people on this forum have not either.

I heard the tape of this rant, it was an unbelievable tirade to deliver to any 11 year old..... this man is a genuinely depraved egomaniac, I don’t care what the provocations from his ex might be, you don’t talk to an 11 year old that way, someone has to be the “adult” in the relationship, but obviously he is not.
btw, if he were not a Hollyweird leftist the MSM would utterly destroy him now by playing this tape 24/7 alongside his rant in the late ‘90s about going to DC and “stoning” Henry Hyde and other Republicans to death. No conservative could survive TWO such demented rants caught on tape, but of course the rules and standards are always different for the Demagogic left.
