Yes indeed. It is apparent now that they should have taken action at 7:30 when they were not sure where the shooter was. Stupid imo. They admit they had kids killed and a shooter loose but decided not to let anyone know this until 2 hours later. If I was a parent then I would be holding these guys responsible...as well as the shooter. At least we now know the facts as far as the first shooting.
1. The police and college knew that they had dead people - shot - 7:30 a.m.
2. They knew the shooter was on the loose.
3. They did nothing further until 9:30 a.m.
Case closed on that subject. They should have taken action but didn’t. There excuse is they thought it was an isolated incident. Ridiculous. Who cares if it was isolated...you still had a shooter on the loose. Someone should be fired.
Personal RESPONSIBLITY People! Granted we live in an area of “Government should be responsible for everything” age, but that is BS. IMHO, BLAME THE SHOOTER! Unless you are Psychic or have a magic 8 ball, there is NO WAY you can predict this sort of random Chaos, let alone figure out a way to prevent acts of random chaos and violence!
The SHOOTER is responsible. No one else.
Guess what? An FBI woman phoned the school, after first shooting, asked if school was in lockdown and asked if not, why not. They said we are buisy right now and hung up on the FBI woman. This came from FBI interview.
His excuse for the late notice is LAME, LAME, LAME!
I didn’t have a loved one or even know anyone there and I AM furious at these dolts. A gunman on the loose and they don’t tell everyone? It’s outrageous.
One more thing. All this talk about their “sophisticated” system for informing students through text msg, email, etc.
How ‘bout a good old fashioned horn alarm like we used to have for civil defense alerts?! Pre-train students/faculty on procedures to follow when the alarm sounds. Then, in emergency, blow the thing and it won’t matter if they’re asleep, in the shower, whatever. It doesn’t have to be sophisticated...just loud.
I get the feeling the ATTORNEY’s are scrambling to cover thier civily liable ass on this one....
I think the college President just said that they didn't send out the first e-mail until then. BEFORE that, they had contacted the Resident Assistants at the dorms to contact the students in the dorms. Of course, there are a lot of students who live off campus, and there's no way to contact all of them before they head to school. Frankly, I think it is unrealistic to expect the school to have responded any more quickly or efficiently than they did. The campus is like a city of over 20,000 residents.
