Most is not correct either.You can not police a campus with over 20,000 students,faculty and employees with security guards.I suspect you can not provide even one example of a major university that does not have a sworn police force.

I've spend some time in eastern Nigeria, where students at some universities are part of armed militias. Whenever people drank, shooting erupted. Professors would hopefully be more responsible than that, though.

If any of this shooter's weapons were obtained illegally, the suppliers need to be facing every charge on the books, including conspiracy to commit 22 counts of murder.

Good question. This is about more than his girlfriend. Last year UNC had an incident where some middle eastern guy drove his car into a bunch of students. Then there was the OSU kid who blew himself up during the football game. Sometimes it's hard not to jump to conclusions during these incidents in a poast-9/11 world.

I don’t want to eliminate anyones right to bear arms. However, lets be real, I doubt that that bill passing keeps this from happening today. Just like a “tougher” gun law wouldn’t keep this from happening today.

If these kids were killed in class, I cannot see any university that would or should allow students to be walking around with guns in class with them.

I'm watching cable news at the moment and I have to note this. Fox is on the phone with a woman getting her input as though it is something important.  Here's the exact transcript.

E.D. Hill:  We're joined on the phone by Amy Chung, another student at Virginia Tech. Amy thank you for being with us.  What information do you have about today?

Amy: Uh, right now I have pretty much the same information that everybody has. I've been watching the news and now I know there are 22 dead, the campus is on lockdown ...

E.D.: What were you doing this morning when this all was happening?

Amy: I actually didn't have classes until 11:15 so I was up and about in my apartment off campus, I'm about 10 minutes from campus getting ready when I got the emails and that's when I turned on the television.

E.D.: Okay, we're talking to Rod Wheeler on the phone now....
