Declining...since WHEN? 1990?
I'm printing off some of the excellent thread starting articles on the REAL FACTS ABOUT CITIZENS HAVING GUNS and going to shove them in several colleagues' faces regardless of the repercussions. This is turf warfare, folks.
Jim, could we have a dedicated sidebar section where all the best anti-gun control threads would be located as a group? Sometimes the titles make collecting by title search problematic. Maybe we already do. I don't have the sidebar up routinely.
I imagine his trials as a youth gave him a unique perspective on horror. He had a clear enough head to act and to make the decision to sacrifice himself. God bless
A .22, no, not likely.
The 9mm would do some damage if the bullet travelled through the facial bones at the front of the head, but would be slower to kill. A round to the roof of the mouth might do that too if it fragmented.
Short of jacketed hollow points or a frangible round, the damage would likely be mostly distortion, not destruction if the bullet or fragments did not exit the face--an 'exit' wound.
Something on the order of a shotgun is needed to 'blow the face off'.
Are you attempting to bring reason to this thread?
If so - that’s ridiculous.
Frankly I’m tired of dumbing down everything. Including flag lowerings. I’ve seen individual idiot stores and all do it for 1 person dead here or there.
9/11 - that I can see; massive attack on the US itself w/massive loss.
Otherwise, they should stick to what it’s for - VIPs in the government and so on.
I imagine that we'll be hearing about every one of them for a while.
I’m now reading that the gun shop receipt(s) were in his back pack. That’s more plausible than as if he put them in his pocket.

Look at the date it is remembered this year
Um, I don’t know if I buy that. Of course I’m not versed, and apparently maybe smaller calibers from certain guns wouldn’t be very effective, but....
...I do know of a man a friend of mine happened to see in a cemetery he visited. He ended up finding the man later (we’re graveyard nuts - he was doing some work with it that day), dead, his head in half and in pieces.
The man had shot himself (from the front) on top of a tomb and blown his head apart.
Good post! The student's eye-witness account totally contradicts the below information from the808bass, where police claim they broke through the chains "within one minute." I figured that was a steaming pile of BS. Your post only confirms it. Thanks.

Um... the news and stuff. There's a lot of it going around. From a local TV station. 9:45 am Your timeline of "5 hours" is flat out wrong. |
You're right
In Yiddish (from which the word has migrated into American English), mensch roughly means "a good person." A role model. A "mensch" is a particularly good person, like "a stand-up guy," a person with the qualities one would hope for in a dear friend or trusted colleague. According to author and Yiddish popularist Leo Rosten
[A] mensch is a someone to admire and emulate, someone of noble character. The key to being "a real mensch" is nothing less than character, rectitude, dignity, a sense of what is right, responsible, decorous. (Rosten, Leo. 1968. The Joys of Yiddish. New York: Pocket Books. 237)
The correct German spelling is Mensch (singular, meaning non-judgmental human or man), Menschen (for the plural and for the singular accusative) and Menschlichkeit ("humanity").
In Modern Israeli Hebrew, the phrase Ben Adam is used as an exact translation of Mensch. Though it literally means "Son of Adam'" the phrase is used for both men and women. Depending on the context, it means either a "person" in general, or specifically a Mensch.
Maybe I am just not so supple in my old age.
CharlesWayneCT brought up a shot from under the chin (similarly, the roof of the mouth) which could produce an exit wound, and unattended be fatal. Without knowing where the entry wound was, it is tough to tell. If this is a murder/suicide scenario, I wish these guys would just cut to the chase and start with themselves if they are not going to seek help.
In your mother's eyes, you will always be three years old, and somewhat retarded...
Even if there's no connection in this monstrous act, it gives one pause.....
tsk, tsk.................
