Part of the problem is we have Rodney Kinged our police officers into being afraid to actually chase a criminal for fear of lawsuit.

Absolutely not true. A couple of local cops here shot two unarmed brothers in the back (one in the back of the head) fo dissin' 'em just the day before yesterday.

Right thinking gun owners need to go on the offensive, not cower.

Correct. I was listening to the Curtis & Kuby radio show this morning and even liberal Ron Kuby said he was a gun owner when he was at the University of Kansas. Said if a similar situation happened he would have been able to protect himself and other students.

Well, we ARE the big dog around here.

Kinda' goes with the terrority. I guess we would not have that attention if we were the Ivory Coast or Paraguay.

Kuby for all his liberal faults, is not a gun grabber.

Geraldo hits the nail on the head in his interview with the VT president.

“Did investigators find any weapons at the site of the first shooting?”. Answer: No.

Even if univ admins thought it was a domestic and/or isolated incident, THAT answer tells you they knew there was an armed man on the loose. Seems inexcusable that they didn’t raise all alarms at that time.

I am not that young but I am also not talking about the 1800s. It’s a lot more recent than that and the reason for bringing the guns to school was definitely not to shoot “supper”. Sorry, your 'Little House on the Prairie' strawman gets an 'F.

Also, Israel seems to have the gun in the classroom bit down pat. In fact their classroom PLO problem has gone down a bit since the teachers are armed. I guess you fear that to.

Yes, it was a very good question. The President of the University, said that they felt it was a domestic involving a murder, suicide.

Hard to explain the gunshot wounds with no guns around.

So, Kuby was packing heat in class?? I rather doubt that. Sorry. Smell test ya know?

She came to Virginia Tech from rural Rappahannock County and was majoring in animal and poultry sciences.

If I were a tinfoil hat type, this would make me think about another Chinese export in the news recently, that tainted wheat gluten.

CNN now reporting that the murderer was a student and a resident at Virginia Tech. This is contrary to reports by MSNBC yesterday evening. CNN reporter says that the University President confirmed that the shooter was a student and on-campus resident.

Thanks for that input. Yes need much more in facts and evidence about the motivation of the shooter.

"I have many friends in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech. On a certain level,I am not fully satisfied with the ‘answer’ that this was a lonely Chinese student upset over a breakup with a girlfriend, as the damage he has caused was so far beyond the bounds of that. I think there was a degree of preparation by the shooter that extended back at least several weeks, and I think the shooter must have had some formal military training. I hope there will be answers in the coming days, when the shooter is positively identified and we learn more about his background and motives."

Totally agree on all.

Did you look at the conferences this professor had attended and was going to attend? He certainly would have been well known by the Chinese military.

Don't know anything about the significance of his expertise - militarily speaking - would like someone with more military knowledge to talk about that.

Columbine happened just before an NRA convention and some sort of pro-RKBA legislation was in the Colorado legislature at the time IIRC—it got flushed because of the emotions involved.

MSNBC’s David Gregory now reporting that the murderer “may have been” a resident in one of the VA Tech dorms.

Was the holocaust survivor the same as the Romanian professor - same person? Yes, he was a hero to block that door. But the shooter did target that room, that class. He went shooting on the 2nd floor of the building, not the first floor not the third floor. No doubt the shooter would have known (as a student) when and where this Professor had a class.

Just speculating. Just seems like this was a targeted shooting not just an aimless rampage done by someone with perhaps military training.

God bless the Professor who blocked the door.

Shep saying they've learned the shooter was from Shanghai, entered the US last August. Said he went in the classroom, went directly to the professor there, put the gun up to the temple of the professor, and shot him dead. Then shot the other students.

Can anyone find out if the Romanian professor would have been this Professor, shot first?

No confirmation of this Chicago Sun Times story about the shooter being a Chinese national.

Lt. Governor Bolling of Virginia just said that there will be more information from law inforcement about the identity of the murderer at the 9am press conference this morning.
