as far as Bush's battle, Texas was kinda of divided still, we had just left the Democrats and it started during Richard's term, plus Bullock was his Lt. Governor and he was a Democrat and had all the power. But you're right, ultimately law in Texas is left to Texans (as it should be) and anybody who resisted the CCW law was basically committing political suicide.

I have been a poster here for years. I greatly enjoy this forum. I don’t always agree with the platform, and on those occassions will voice my stance. I do this to engage with other posters, and hopefully to make things more interesting that a uniform “ditto” echo chamber. If I don’t line up with others on every single issue, that doesn’t mean I would prefer going to DU.

My daughter just told me they are reporting 33 dead and 15 wounded from jumping out of windows. The perp shot himself, had no identification, and it will be difficult to ID him based on how he shot himself.

The current theory is that the perp went back to his place (off campus maybe?) to reload and create 'Instant Jihad'

Perhaps he was only certified to carry one weapon on his person, and after the intitial crime had to get some more supplies for his mayhem

Most remarkable interview I heard all day was with the kid who took the cell phone video that they’ve been showing on CNN.

His accent sounded like he was Middle Eastern, and his name was Jamal Aberghouti (or something like that.)

Anyway, the reporter asked him why he wasn’t scared when he heard the gun shots, and saw the police running with guns (the reporter assumed he wasn’t scared because he continued to shoot the cell phone video footage.)

No joking...the kid replied, “I’m from the Middle East and I’m used to situations like this.”

From the rest of the interview it sounded like the kid was an okay guy, he was a grad student working on his thesis, and expressed dismay over the violence and the dead. But his statement was certainly interesting, to say the least.

Guess what? An FBI woman phoned the school, after first shooting, asked if school was in lockdown and asked if not, why not. They said we are buisy right now and hung up on the FBI woman. This came from FBI interview.

I would have hung up too, thinking it was a hoax. Women work for the FBI?

Exactly...this guy was loaded with ammo...obviously, his intention was to kill many.
