Thread 4
Since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, our nation has fought a global war against violent extremists who use terrorism as their weapon of choice, and who seek to destroy our free way of life. Our enemies seek weapons of mass destruction and, if they are successful, will likely attempt to use them in their conflict with free people everywhere. Currently, the struggle is centered in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we will need to be prepared and arranged to successfully defend our nation and its interests around the globe for years to come. DOD
Our enemies include all the Muslims who dream of knocking Western Civilization off its perch atop humanityâs dung heap. Islam is fractured into any number of sects, tribes and ethnic groups, but the dream of destroying us cuts across all the fault lines. Islamic terrorists are merely the tip of a very large spear.
J. Peter Mulhern, the American Thinker, September 18
The determination behind that fight is real, the hatred is real, and the excuses for doing this are very real in the minds of those who have decided to walk that path. We can respond in two ways: Try to ignore or negotiate with people who do not want to negotiate in good faith, because what they want is our destruction, or to stand up against the darkness of those who see all of us, our way of life, our culture and our aspirations as something worth eliminating.
Either: "And God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Or: "With vigilance, determination, courage, we will defeat the enemies of freedom, and we will leave behind a more peaceful world for our children and our grandchildren." GW Bush.

Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Friday warned the Lebanese government against storming a Palestinian refugee camp where Islamic militants are holed up and criticized US weapons aid to the military in the standoff.
Nasrallah warns gov't not to storm camp
Someone was asking about this critter the other day - Here he is.
” Nasrallah warns gov’t not to storm camp “
Heard a passing comment on FNC yesterday something to the effect that Nasrallah had “issued a statement in support of the government”... With no details and no follow-up, so I didn’t bother to share it here....
Your story sounds more accurate - and ‘in character’....
Here’s a big ‘uh-oh’......

BAGHDAD - A day after radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr resurfaced to end nearly four months in hiding and demand U.S. troops leave Iraq, American forces raided his Sadr City stronghold and killed five suspected militia fighters in air strikes Saturday.
U.S. and Iraqi forces called in the air strikes after a raid in which they captured a “suspected terrorist cell leader,” the U.S. military said in statement.
The statement claimed the captured man was “the suspected leader in a secret cell terrorist network known for facilitating the transport of weapons and explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, from Iran to Iraq, as well as bringing militants from Iraq to Iran for terrorist training.”

Think somebody was just waiting for Mookie to resurface???
A 50 from across the valley aught to fix it though.
Funny we both caught that at the same time.
Glad I looked before I posted.
” Glad I looked before I posted. “
Not to worry — it happens all the time where two (or more) of us will glom onto the same piece of info simultaneously...
Just means that we’re pretty much in agreement as to what’s significant......
LOL.
You did it again...made me smile.
Finally heard from.
Good morning, Bahbah....
Pull up a stool and a cuppa —
Between the carryings-on in Lebanon and Gaza, and Mookie showing up to be a lightning rod, and a possible military coup in the Ukraine, this could be an uncharacteristically interesting weekend......
;~)
That just may be the case.
Thanks to all. I was able to get "up to speed" in a short time thanks to the posts.
Morning BahBah.
Morning, Workerbee. I’m glad the affects of the shot are easing.
Thanks - they can be so debilitating.
