Since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, our nation has fought a global war against violent extremists who use terrorism as their weapon of choice, and who seek to destroy our free way of life. Our enemies seek weapons of mass destruction and, if they are successful, will likely attempt to use them in their conflict with free people everywhere. Currently, the struggle is centered in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we will need to be prepared and arranged to successfully defend our nation and its interests around the globe for years to come. DOD

Our enemies include all the Muslims who dream of knocking Western Civilization off its perch atop humanity’s dung heap. Islam is fractured into any number of sects, tribes and ethnic groups, but the dream of destroying us cuts across all the fault lines. Islamic terrorists are merely the tip of a very large spear.

The determination behind that fight is real, the hatred is real, and the excuses for doing this are very real in the minds of those who have decided to walk that path. We can respond in two ways: Try to ignore or negotiate with people who do not want to negotiate in good faith, because what they want is our destruction, or to stand up against the darkness of those who see all of us, our way of life, our culture and our aspirations as something worth eliminating.

Been spending the morning, as I do every Monday morning, watching/listening to the rerun of FNC’s Business Block — which is a weekly exercise in “disbelieving truths”.....

I take some satisfaction in the fact that my blood pressure is still capable of being raised by their head-in-the-sand, ‘nothing-could-possibly-go-wrong’, ‘let ‘em eat cake’ mantra....

(The cost-push spiral I’ve been warning of - as a voice-in-the-wilderness - became more of a reality last week with the barely reported leap of 4% in food prices. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain...)

Scrolling through (next) back to May 14, I found it interesting that streets were mentioned and names of citizens. It appears very "local" and therefore interesting in that regard.

Lebanese army shelling kills 8 in Palestinian camp 42 minutes ago

NAHR AL-BARED, Lebanon (Reuters) - At least eight civilians were killed and 20 wounded on Monday in Lebanese army shelling of a Palestinian refugee camp during fighting with Islamist militants, Palestinian sources inside the camp said.

They said the toll was certain to rise as some areas of the camp, home for some 40,000 refugees, could not be reached by rescue workers.

Dozens killed in Lebanese fighting

TRIPOLI, Lebanon - Lebanese troops tightened a siege of a Palestinian refugee camp Monday where a shadowy group suspected of ties to al-Qaida was holed up, pounding the camp with artillery a day after the worst eruption of violence since the end of the country’s 1975-90 civil war.

Lebanese officials said one of the men killed in Sunday’s fighting was a suspect in a failed German train bombing — a new sign that the camp had become a refuge for militants planning attacks outside of Lebanon. In the past, others in the camp have said they were aiming to send trained fighters into
Iraq.

Saddam El-Hajdib was the fourth-highest ranking official in the
Fatah Islam group, an official said Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. El-Hajdib had been on trial in absentia in Lebanon in connection with the failed German plot.

The death toll remained uncertain as hundreds of Lebanese army troops, backed by tanks and armored carriers, surrounded the Nahr el-Bared refugee camp on Tripoli’s outskirts early Monday. M-48 battle tanks unleashed their cannon fire on the camp, sending orange flames followed by white plumes of smoke. The militants fired mortars toward the troops at daybreak Monday.

Where is the outrage. They are pummeling a “refugee camp” fgs!! Remember Jenin? If this were Israelis doing this, it would be all over the media.
