Since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, our nation has fought a global war against violent extremists who use terrorism as their weapon of choice, and who seek to destroy our free way of life. Our enemies seek weapons of mass destruction and, if they are successful, will likely attempt to use them in their conflict with free people everywhere. Currently, the struggle is centered in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we will need to be prepared and arranged to successfully defend our nation and its interests around the globe for years to come. DOD
Our enemies include all the Muslims who dream of knocking Western Civilization off its perch atop humanityâs dung heap. Islam is fractured into any number of sects, tribes and ethnic groups, but the dream of destroying us cuts across all the fault lines. Islamic terrorists are merely the tip of a very large spear.
J. Peter Mulhern, the American Thinker, September 18
The determination behind that fight is real, the hatred is real, and the excuses for doing this are very real in the minds of those who have decided to walk that path. We can respond in two ways: Try to ignore or negotiate with people who do not want to negotiate in good faith, because what they want is our destruction, or to stand up against the darkness of those who see all of us, our way of life, our culture and our aspirations as something worth eliminating.
Either: "And God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Or: "With vigilance, determination, courage, we will defeat the enemies of freedom, and we will leave behind a more peaceful world for our children and our grandchildren." GW Bush.

Politicians: Olmert Will Be Replaced without Elections
(IsraelNN.com) Political leaders from Kadima and Labor have agreed that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will soon be replaced but that general elections will not be held this year. MK Avigdor Itzchaky, who recently quit as coalition leader in protest of Prime Minister Olmert’s refusal to step down, said Wednesday morning that none of the coalition parties have an interest in elections. “Everyone knows they will lose,” he explained. MK Itzchaky added he “has no idea” who will replace Olmert as Prime Minister.
MK Avishai Braverman (Labor), who is the leading backer of MK Ami Ayalon in his challenge to replace Defense Minister Amir Peretz as Labor party chairman, stated that “continuing with Olmert will destroy the Labor party.” Kadima will have to find a replacement, he added.
Both MK Braverman and Kadima MK Meir Sheetrit also roundly criticized former Prime Minister Ehud Barak for stating that Prime Minister Olmert should resign but that he would agree to sit in his government. Barak is Ayalon’s chief contender in the Labor party leadership primaries at the end of the month.

Mornin...sorry I was typing a rant on Mitch McConell. I’m irritated by our Minority Leadership in the Senate this morning. Arrgggggg.
He pi$$es me off sometimes.
He’s got one of the loudest microphones for the minority and he doesn’t use it. It’s nuts.
Something we need to know about.

The Soros pincer move on Israel
Ed Lasky
George Soros is deeply hostile to current American support for Israel. He publicly criticizes AIPAC and is exploring opportunities to form an anti-AIPAC. He also plans to launch a European version of the Council of Foreign Relations. Now, it seems as if George Soros may be launching yet another effort to try to influence the course of policy regarding Israel.
As many people may know, The Conference of the Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations and the Jewish Center for Public Affairs produces a daily compendium of news items regarding Israel that is often sent to major decision-makers and news outlets (the Daily Alert). Though this service carries news items from a diverse range of outlets (including the New York Times, Arab news sources and the left-leaning Haaretz newspaper) one influential Washington, D.C-based think tank, the Center for American Progress (CAP), thinks that the Daily Alert is too favorable towards Israel. CAP just launched an alternative news and opinion service dubbed: The Middle East Bulletin. Given the time constraints that many people labor under, and the cutback in news gathering and analysis that media outlets have had to endure, given the changing economics of the industry, news services such as these alerts are becoming increasingly relied upon.
The bulletin will go out three times a week and will be delivered via the internet to media outlets, Congressmen, and decision-makers around the world.
How does George Soros fit in this picture? The Center for American Progress receives funding from George Soros. The first “issue” of the Middle East News Bulletin itself gives credit for “the support and cooperation of Americans for Peace Now, Geneva Initiative Israel Policy Forum and the New Israel Fund.” None of these organizations are supportive of AIPAC and have proudly taken positions contrary to those of AIPAC and its many supporters.
Furthermore, Soros funds Media Matters- purportedly a media “monitoring” group. However, the group has an agenda. The group has been criticized for trying to censor the news by its criticisms and for “spinning” the news so as to give its readers a particular view of the events of the day.
One new group has been launched to deliver its choices of news and opinion to stovepipe to decision-makers and media outlets; the other group was formed to pressure media outlets regarding their presentations of the news. Seems as if an effort is being made to mold the news in a particular direction — one that may not be favorable towards Israel or the American-Israel relationship.
This “pincer move” bears watching.

Thanks Bahbah.
Welcome, j.
I am flabberbgasted at the amount of influence this evil man is wielding.
Yep. To a large degree, it’s how a lot of things are controlled IMO. The best thing is understanding it, and you are doing just that IMO. Best to understand all the enemy’s in order to defeat them, IMHO.
Post-election violence continued for a third night across France, with about 200 vehicles torched by rioters and more than 80 people taken in for questioning, the interior minister said Wednesday.
The violence has largely been carried out by left-wing and anarchist troublemakers angered by conservative Nicolas Sarkozy’s win in presidential elections Sunday. They oppose his free-market reforms and tough line on crime and immigration.
Though violence continued late Tuesday and early Wednesday, the third night after the election was much calmer than the previous two, said Interior Minister Francois Baroin.
About 730 cars were burned nationwide Sunday night and 592 people were arrested. The following night, 373 vehicles were torched and 160 people were taken in for questioning across France.

Police searched apartments and offices run by leftist groups in cities across the country Wednesday on suspicion they were planning “terrorist” attacks against next month’s Group of Eight summit.
“The militant extreme left groups and their members are suspected of having founded a terrorist group, or of being members of such an organization, with the specific goal of staging fire bombings and other violent attacks in order to disrupt or prevent the upcoming G-8 summit in Heiligendamm,” federal prosecutors said in a statement.
Prosecutors said they were investigating more than 18 individuals suspected of organizing a terrorist group.

What a day. I discovered my deep freeze had been off because a circuit breaker had tripped. Lost a lot. Then when I plug it back again, it’s overheating. Had to unplug it again. I see it’s time to go shopping for a new deep freeze.
I HAVE to start mowing the back yard. Yuck.
I need more coffee.
I was tired and just decided to hang it up very early last night. Longest night’s sleep I’ve had in a long time. Up and kicking this morning. But I can always use more coffee :)
....and given that the DBM is bleeding out in terms of credibility and circulation to the point that they’re attacking us poor little Pajamahadeen as unfair, where do you suppose is going to be the next place Soros goes to buy allegiance to his world view?
Might be interesting to watch, unless he decides that buying all of the internet out would not be cost effective and just settles for a try at censorship......
It would be a da** nuisance to have to lawyer up before you log on to FR, wouldn’t it?
rant on
There’s something whacked about how the various areas report fire acreage on the daily reports.
Yesterday, they reported 10 new large fires. Large fires by definition have to be 100 acres in timber or 300 acres in grass. There are a total of 22 uncontained large fires out there.
So, what was the grand total of acres burned for the day?
465. If it was just new fires, it would have to be 1000 acres minimum.
The south, where fires were popping up all over the place yesterday in Florida, and where there was a major run on one of the Georgia fires, reported a total of 71 acres.
Southern California, which had a number of fires yesterday, reported 0 acres burned.
Now it is true, that these reports are based on data as of about 4:30 or thereabouts local time. But still. The fire in Griffin Park in LA was at least 200 acres by that time.
I hate how they do that. Later, the totals will be added into the grand totals, but it would be sure nice if there was an attempt to report acres burned in something that approached reality.

Do you really expect REALITY out of a “news” story?
Those stiffs usually don’t even check the spelling on the Press Releases anymore..........
I'm amazed at how completely money destroys the soul.
