Thread 4
Since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, our nation has fought a global war against violent extremists who use terrorism as their weapon of choice, and who seek to destroy our free way of life. Our enemies seek weapons of mass destruction and, if they are successful, will likely attempt to use them in their conflict with free people everywhere. Currently, the struggle is centered in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we will need to be prepared and arranged to successfully defend our nation and its interests around the globe for years to come. DOD
Our enemies include all the Muslims who dream of knocking Western Civilization off its perch atop humanityâs dung heap. Islam is fractured into any number of sects, tribes and ethnic groups, but the dream of destroying us cuts across all the fault lines. Islamic terrorists are merely the tip of a very large spear.
J. Peter Mulhern, the American Thinker, September 18
The determination behind that fight is real, the hatred is real, and the excuses for doing this are very real in the minds of those who have decided to walk that path. We can respond in two ways: Try to ignore or negotiate with people who do not want to negotiate in good faith, because what they want is our destruction, or to stand up against the darkness of those who see all of us, our way of life, our culture and our aspirations as something worth eliminating.
Either: "And God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Or: "With vigilance, determination, courage, we will defeat the enemies of freedom, and we will leave behind a more peaceful world for our children and our grandchildren." GW Bush.

Winograd report comes out (in the morning our time)...word is that Olmert’s going to be in a heap of political trouble..
Winograd Report: Olmert “Failed”
(IsraelNN.com) The Winograd interim report uses the word “failed” (kashal) with regard to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s handling of the Second Lebanon War, according to TV Channel 2. Sources close to Olmert said that if the report indeed uses this term, then Olmert’s political situation is worse than they had thought.
With regard to Defense Minister Amir Peretz, the Winograd report says that Peretz asked the right questions, but was overawed by his Chief of Staff, Dan Halutz.

Morning all. There’s an echo in here.
Morning, Workerbee.
Hot Air has a really fun video from Afganistan. One of the fun things about it is hearing the UK reporter refer to the helicopters as Ahpahshays. LOL.
http://www.mediaplayer.telegraph.co.uk/?item=70AC27AA-C34B-45D1-8CBF-537572C2D1E4
I hadn’t read down to this when I posted the video, but it seems the folks at Hot Air were just as amused as I was.
“But the absolute best part of that video is listening to the British announcer mangle the name of the American helicopters unleashing all this mayhem. I was listening and caught myself wondering, did he just say Apashay?. And then its like he makes up his mind and just goes all out with uh-PAHHH-shay, and sticks with that through the rest of the video.”
Too funny. Good shooting though.
Very good shooting. It seems that the rules previously were, if the Talies were running away, you let them go (which I just find stupid beyond words). Now, you hunt them down and shoot them. Like in a war, right?
Good morning, gang....
I overslept (gasp!) and now catching up on coffee....
How are y’all this fine morning??
Morning, Uncle Ike.
I am much better than a bunch of Talibanies.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) U.S.-led coalition says at least 136 suspected Taliban killed in three days of fighting in western Afghanistan.
” I am much better than a bunch of Talibanies “
Yaaay for the good guys!!!!
Wish that all the battles that we’re winning over there (largely unreported, I hasten to add) were matched by wins in the battle over here....
I think that we need a new strategy (and ROE) in DC.......
Yup. Not playin now, chase em down and put holes in em.
Good morning Uncle Ike.
That is EXACTLY what we need.
Iranian Officials Claim Israel Is Not Able to Attack Iran
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Sunday that the “Zionist regime” does not have the capability to attack Iran.
IRNA reported:
Replying to the question about the claim of the Zionist regime’s prime minister, Ehud Olmert, on the possibility of attacking Iran, he said that this has been denied by Israel.
Besides, he underlined that Israel is not capable of attacking Iran, adding that given the high defensive capabilities of Iranian forces, they will hardly let any party to take such a measure.” Turning to Israel’s failure in the 33-day war with Lebanon, which was launched by the Zionist regime, he said that such claims raised by the Zionist regime are aimed at the country’s internal crisis.

I kew those jackles woul do this. They used the media to stop Israel from destroying them and turn around a claim they defeated Israel.
