O'Reilly Sells Out to Sharpton
Accuracy In Media ^ | 4/13/07 | Cliff Kincaid

Posted on 04/15/2007 2:31:56 PM PDT by ricoshea

Sharpton, labeled a "public liar and racial arsonist" in a devastating piece by John Perazzo on Frontpagemag.com, has an enabler named Bill O'Reilly. Watchers of "The Factor" may be interested to know that O'Reilly is paying homage to Sharpton at the civil rights agitator's upcoming national convention. Indeed, O'Reilly himself is an honored guest.

I knew something was suspicious when I was watching O'Reilly interview Sharpton on Wednesday night. I was very disappointed that O'Reilly, who can be aggressive with some guests, did not bring up Sharpton's conviction for lying in the Tawana Brawley defamation case. But then I watched a replay of the interview and noticed a brief exchange in which Sharpton mentioned how O'Reilly had been invited to his upcoming National Action Network Convention. I had missed this exchange when I watched it live because both of them were almost talking over one another, congratulating themselves for being concerned about the influence of rap music. It was then that I heard O'Reilly mutter that he would be attending the event, sponsored by Sharpton.

I soon discovered that O'Reilly, the most popular host on the "conservative" Fox News Channel, is listed in the official program, along with Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, as a "special guest" at the "Keeper of the Dream VIP Reception" that is by "invitation only."

The only smart thing to do would be to watch Glenn Beck instead of BOR.

That thought should have abated when O'Reilly publicly condemned the Swift Boat Veterans....

That's what did it for me.

Yep, I remember it well. And B.O. also defended Dan Rather.

You mean B.O. still has fans among Freepers? Go figure.

I wouldnt really say that jackson was a Civil Rights leader.

jackson has made a career of being on the balcony and getting MLK’s blood sneared on his jacket. Word is he got down and placed it there himself.

Here we have a man with no job, no Church of his own, No congregation and some say no right to call himself a preacher since he reportedly has never been ordained.

Yet his son owns a Budweiser distributorship thanks to extortion and Jesse Jr. has a Congressional seat, thanks to race baiting, and Jesse hiomself is a millionaire who allows Rainbow Coalition to pay his child support.

No: what we have here isnt a Civil Rights leader, what we have here is a smart con man, who shopuld be investigated under RICO if the govt. had any balls.

I do believe you are right...

But, Sharpton and the Media Matters group that pointed the finger at Imus is aiming for Glenn now.

I like watching his show because he’ll have some interesting topics but you can tell he plays the middle and goes over board to play nice to Sharpton just so he can look like a “Fair and Balanced” guy.

I don’t like sell outs and can’t trust them either.

He not only condemned them, he said they had "no right" to say what they had to say.

Imagine that; the voices of combat veterans being squelched by a member of the media.

BO stinks.

O'Reilly is an enemy of the SB Vets and of free speech, and he's a friend of al charlatan. Yet he still has fans at FR.

I don't get it either.

"He went against the Swift Boat veterans in order to keep liberals watching him."

It appears to be a subtle move by the Kerry side during the last several months to make the Swift Boat Veterans appear to be unscrupulous swine. There have been little things in the local media that are putting that bug into the people's ear.

At least locally here in Massachusetts.

I have seen nothing whatsoever anywhere that refutes the charges of the Swifties, and for some reason, this slow hammering away at them continues.

I suspect that it is Heinz money at work.

“At least locally here in Massachusetts.”

I grew up in Newton, and Kerry came to my HS several times to make anti Viet Nam speeches. So did Ted Kennedy.

“I suspect that it is Heinz money at work.”

Quite likely.

I had cut O’Reilly loose long before his Swift Boat betrayal. When during the Iraq invasion Bill O’Reilly made comments three nights in a row about how great the U.S. Army was now and how unlike the current Army was to the incompetent Vietnam era Army, I never watched his show again.

How does Bill O’Reilly know anything about the U.S. Army in Vietnam? O’Reilly never served. O’Reilly was then and still is nothing but a liberal Democrat draft dodger.

O’Rielly is a canny actor who is trying to position himself in the ‘reasonable’ middle. Everything he says is calculated to gain him a large degree of the conservative audience as well as the center-Left. He is not, in my opinion, without spin.

He regards Limbaugh as hard or loony Right. That is nuts. I doubt Limbaugh believes much very different from his father and grandfather or the millions who lived in their now dead and buried era. (Oh, hell, maybe he IS loony Right after all!)

One thing O’rielly does when he gets a caller who has an argument he can’t “reason” away, is to simply dismiss out of hand the callers concerns or argument. (Bloomberg does this as well).

my comment (was meant to) relate only to the difference between Jackson and Sharpton ... Jackson was at least in MS when it was not a safe place to be for anyone, black or white, who was working in the civil rights movement. Let’s say JJ was a civil rights activist during the civil rights era (who has since become an incredible shakedown artist).

Whatever happened on the balcony, whether he fabricated his position or not, JJ was in MS, he was organizing, he was being an activist. Was Sharpton?

From what I’ve seen Sharpton has only gone into (what for him are safe) black neighborhoods to incite riots. Lately, he’s broadened his horizons to tv appearances and shaking down corporations. But has Sharpton ever once risked his life for the movement he claims to lead?

How does Bill O’Reilly know anything about the U.S. Army in Vietnam?

He knows what was told him by the liberal media.

What he beleives and why he beleives it is a different story.

O’Reilly doesn’t have any core values, he just simply tries to get the biggest ratings he can.
