(AP) _ A state official says police have found the driver they believe caused a car accident that left Gov. Jon S. Corzine critically injured, and would not be charging the man. An official with knowledge of the investigation said the driver, a man who worked at a casino in Atlantic City, didn't realize he had caused the accident and thought he actually avoided an accident.

Almost as bad as destroying the Duke lacrosse players' lives. And, possibly, this red pickup driver's life, if he's identified.
The whole thing stinks of deflecting the blame, as I posted above.
The MSM have aided and abetted the Dems and the state police in deflecting the blame for this accident -- onto some poor zhlub who probably didn't even know he was "involved."

Exactly. White had moved over into Red’s blind spot, and Red saw that the SUV was in the outside lane so he rolled back into his original lane and sped up — just as White pulled into the SUV which was the only cause of this accident.
He was speeding.

Your version is probably more accurate than any the MSM will ever publish.
Your scenario makes sense except that the driver of the red truck said he pulled back into the lane AFTER he had avoided the accident. For both you occupy the same piece of road he would have to have seen that the other vehicle was there. That isn’t AFTER, that’s while its happening.

Emergency lights flashing, that causes abrupt lane changes. This is CYA time at the Jersey Kings Mansion.
The white truck should have been pulled over to the side of the road like the red truck, instead of continuing, shouldn’t it?
Accident investigators are expected to pull data from the crash data retrieval system of Corzine’s SUV. The device, similar to the “black boxes” recovered after airplane crashes, could tell how fast the truck was traveling at the time of the accident, and contain other clues as to how the crash occurred.
“Anything we can get our hands on, we will look at anything,” said Sgt. Jeanne Hengemuhle, spokeswoman for the New Jersey State Police.

It’s even possible that the white truck was going to pull over to the side of the road like the red truck and that at that point the red truck was trying to merge back into the traffic lane. The white truck seeing the red truck trying to merge back over may have oversteered into the far left lane.
The facts seem to be that the red pickup avoided a collision. (He is correct, thinking he avoided the accident, isn’t he?)
They are not charging this guy for a reason.
Because the Governor caused this accident by being careless and dangerous.
I’ve always counted cars behind me, as that’s the only way to keep track of who’s where. Red saw the lights coming up behind him, but in the left lane. He still rolled over onto the shoulder, then saw they were in the outside, so he rolled back into his lane not realizing that White had barreled up onto him.
If, as Red said, “unfolded as the other two vehicles passed him” implies White lane shifted when passing Red. Could be Corzine’s speeding SUV got into White blind spot, and White thought it was clear to lane shift.
Fat chance we’ll see that info!!
When an “emergency vehicle” is in a fast lane, barreling down a highway in traffic, anything can happen because people have to make quick decisions moving at high rates of speed. Some may panic.
That said, we now have to know why his emergency lights were flashing. Was there a true emergency, or was King Corzine just moving the peons out of his way?
Why was Meathead exceeding the speed limit in the first place?? To make the 6 O Clock news?
If he was a redneck how much sympathy would he be getting for not wearing his seatbelt?
