“Ender’s Game” is one of the best science fiction books out there.
Thanks!

Orson Scott Card - PING [please freepmail me if you want or don't want to be pinged to Orson Scott Card political articles] This article will be posted permanently (eventually) on his The Ornery American website http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/index.html

Character is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
My eyes teared up reading Mr. Card's article.
Card is that relative rarity nowadays...a Democrat that gets it.

Since 9/11 he wrote many political essays. He is a conservative democrat of Zell Miller type (there are still few left) who is upset with hijacking of his party by the Left. His articles are more inline with the FreeRepublic spirit than with his own political website: http://www.ornery.org/index.html that is heavily populated by American- and other Leftists who are delightfully annoyed by Mr. Card's conservatism. He does not post on that site and its moderated by somebody else.
Links: his articles discussed at FR: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/k-orsonscottcard/browse and archived here (it is a must go place for all new to OSC political writing): http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/index.html
His literary, non-political website: http://www.hatrack.com
His fresh articles appear in the Rhinoceros Times, Greensboro, NC: http://www.rhinotimes.com/greensboro/ (before being posted permanently on his The Ornery American website). Read his books/movies/and everything reviews: http://www.hatrack.com/osc/reviews/everything/

This is from OSC? Seems like some of his writing was a bit odd. I will research and see. I have read almost all his books, including Ender’s Game series, but I remember something odd about his political views.
This man has it right, I don’t care what letter he has after his name, he hits it on the head.
What a great essay by Card. He is right on the mark and it is disgusting to watch.
Onw would think that a man this perceptive would have abandoned the Democrat Party by now. But he’s right on. The only theme he didn’t develop was the honor of the military - the organization that keeps doing the job - regardless.
Consider yourself officially invited to change parties. Become a Republican. Start using that powerful pen of yours among those who value and sustain your viewpoint.
Honor in the Democrat party has always been a scarce commodity, yet still undervalued due to lack of demand.
You should all read this. Long, but fantastic.
BTTT this needs to be kept up top all day long.
I wish some would print 435 of them and tape one to the door of every member in the House.
OSC hit another one out of the park!
As an embarrassed Democrat, I am ashamed of my party, because I know that at the grassroots level there are plenty of Democrats who care about honor and wish their party had any.
The party leadership won’t do anything about this as long as they remain beholden to the move-on.org types, and a counter-coup happens and dethrons the 1968 people.
My name is sionnsar and I am a dunderhead.
How would anyone join the Republican Party for honor’s sake? I vote Republican because it is the lesser of two evils. A party that lets in a tide of unchecked immigrants to drive down wages of poor Americans for the benefit of the rich, without regard to social consequences, has at best a partial sense of honor.

My name is Clint Williams and I am proud to be a dunderhead, if this is what being a dunderhead means.
