It was just announced on the "Mike and the Mad Dog Show" on WFAN (Imus's home base): Imus is out of a job on radio as well.

He will not even be on the air tomorrow.

Don’t know what kind of a link I can provide but I’ll see if I can find one. Further up in the thread you’ll find another freeper who said Imus has gone on record saying he’s the only Republican living on the West Side in NY and another who also heard he voted for GWB in 2000. I’ll try and find something more definitive.

From some blogger on dm beatles who also heard it from Imus

MSNBC personality & WFAN talk radio host Don Imus of Imus In The Morning is nothing but a hypocrite & a has been, as well as being a phony. He actually claimed that his show was unpredictable, when that's about as ludicrous as you can get, since he's so predictable & so mainstream, it's sick. He also claims to be a registered Republican, but criticizes Bush & Republicans mostly, along with constantly whining about the Iraq war

From democratic underground: "As repulsive as it may sound to liberal or progressive people familiar with the political attitude of Don Imus, he may have been partially correct with his assessment of our election choices last year. Imus, who hosts a popular radio show on WFAN radio as well as the simulcast on MSNBC cable, has been known for many years as a closet conservative. His often-nightly on-air love affair with John McCain during the primaries last year was difficult for some Democrats to sit through to say the least. He would call McCain, or vice-versa, and exchange right wing, anti-Clinton opinions, pausing only to play his homemade song parodies, skewering Clinton and Gore at will. In addition his often heard rant against Al Gore seemed disingenuous and deliberately vague. He would call Gore an evil person, a skunk, and other phrases that seem tailor-made both for morning radio, and for old, scruffy cowboy wannabe's like Imus, and yet he offered no concrete facts to back up his ire. It almost seemed that he was trying to appear hip to his staff, which were backing McCain. link

From spiritus-temporis.com/don-imus/1988: In 2000, Imus was a George W. Bush supporter; however, after the Iraq War, Imus became more critical of Bush and supported John Kerry in 2004.

Still searching to find his admission that he was a republican.

I'll be interested in proof positive. I can't imagine any Republican with the vitriol against the Swift Boat Vets and strong support for John Kerry that Imus had.

It makes no sense.

It sounds more like people are trying to say he's a Republican because, of course, only Republicans are racists.

Just my take on it.

-—The sheer irony of the Don Imus farce is that there is implicit racism in the hearts & minds of the race card crowd” (Jesse Jackoff, Al Sharptone, etc.).

Consider the following: While the Jesse Jackoff’s & Al Sharptone’s of the world routinely ignore the racist/sexist rap/hiphop lyrics WHEN THEY’RE SUNG BY NEGRO-AMERICANS, if a WHITE person utters the “N-Word,” he’s immediately labeled racist.

The irony comes in when one realizes that the race card players - like Jesse Jackoff - go thru the following algorithm before whining about how racist the person is:

1. Hear the offensive, potentially racist words

2. Visually evaluate the skin color of that person.

3. If the skin color is WHITE, then the person is a VILE RACIST!

4. If the skin color is BLACK, then the offender gets a free pass to say anything they want without retribution.

Therefore the race card baiters are actually exposing their own racism when they make grandiose assumptions about a white person based on their skin color. Why? Because they treat people differently based solely on skin color!!

Sometimes whites simply invoke the “Niggah” term playfully just as many blacks do and may, in fact, not be particularly racist people, but they are thereafter perceived as UGLY RACISTS even if they are not.

The hypocrisy here on the part of the “race card baiters” is laughable. I’m surprised nobody points this out.

Its pretty funny watching all of those so happy to go on Imus and yuk it up...now letting him twist slowly in the breeze.

David Greggory’s looks ridiculous trying to play ‘journalist’ covering this train wreck.
