It was just announced on the "Mike and the Mad Dog Show" on WFAN (Imus's home base): Imus is out of a job on radio as well.
He will not even be on the air tomorrow.
It's a private employer and they have every right to fire him
Though .. he also has every right to move to satellite radio and let loose on all those who hung him out to dry
The end result being achieved by and dependent on the existence of unrelenting, tireless pressure, intimidation, euphoria/outrage (both genuine and feigned) and lastly and especially hypocrisy, is what makes that a hard sell for me.
I would like to see all of us equally accountable. And that just doesn't appear to be happening here.
As for CBS, I believe they made the proper business decision - what's best for business, anyway, which is what they pretty much have to do, I think.

good riddance. show was awful. now maybe i can get something decent to hear on the drive into work.
he referred to emeka okafor as a dumb immigrant.
a man from houston who graduated in 3 years from uconn in business.
man is totally ignorant.
now if he is investigated by the FCC, well then i’ll start defending his 1st ammendment rights.
These are liberal media.
These are liberal academics and educators.
These are liberal corporate boards.
These are liberal church and synagogue councils.
If they decide to shut you down, you have noway to stop them. Period.
Someday we will be shut up for being prolife because that means we are anti-woman.
Someday we will be shut up for being pro-defense because that will mean we are racist imperialists.
Someday we will be shut up for being pro-religion because that will mean we are narrow-minded oppressors.
If we do not begin to organize now and fight back—to take back the schools, the media, the churches, the synagogues—we will be asking for it.
I am a senior tenure professor. One line from me which does not fit someone’s point of view and I will have my classroom picketed and then forced either to apologize and then be suspended or be simply be fired as a bigot, misogynist or whatever other tag they want to hang on me.
Fight back.

That'll be kinda tough for me come football season. Onyx's San Diego Chargers games are carried on CBS. Onyx knows I watch the Chargers games when my Cowboys aren't playing. :)
I'm tired of being blamed for their problems. There is a lot of people who have immigrated here from other countries and had become a huge success because they worked..... instead of playing the victim card...
Imus on MSNBC is the reason she's even on radio. She had weekly appearances on Imus In The Morning for a long time, then got the radio gig she enjoys now.
I barely watch the networks as it is and we buy the NFL package from DirecTV.
Sorry, but I stick by my original statement. When Sharpton and Jackson apologize to all the White males that they have insulted, disparaged and caused physical and financial pain (not to mention the emotional pain), then I’ll reconsider.
Or have you forgotten “Hymietown”, Tawana Brawley and Howard Beach? Not to mention the Duke Lacrosse players???
Schumer racing to a microphone to talk about Imus?

In reference to the firing of Don Imus, I have a few observations. It pains me to say this but it’s beginning to look like Al Sharpton, a pathological liar, and Jessie Jackson, a gold-plated liar, are now running this country. Those two along with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are going to bring down this republic. It’s too late for me to move to Australia or New Zealand but I am going to try to help my kids and grandchildren if that be their wishes. I can see the future and this country is going to be locked in a revolution that eventually will belong to the ones with the most guns. I only have one gun but plan to arm my children and grandchildren.
I believe he did (say he voted for Bush) but, then anyone with half a brain would have voted for Bush over Gore or Kerry.
How do I know this? I know it because this is the first time I've heard of this comment -- which means he didn't feel a need to stand and snivel in front of a camera, complaining that he'd gotten some kind of permanent emotional scars after hearing those comments from a stupid radio talk show host.
NOW Clinton had to weigh in on this at a NY Methodist Church and he had to go into all this religious diatribe and then brings up Britney Spears and ANS in the process.... what an idiot and embarassement that he was every our POTUS...
Obey? O-TAY!
