HER name is Crystal Gail Man gum. She is the woman who falsely accused three Duke University students of rape. Yesterday, the attorney general of North Carolina came forward and flatly declared the three young men "innocent of these charges." That means their accuser is a liar. Her name is Crystal Gail Mangum. It is the policy of the news media not to publish the names of rape accusers on the grounds that they should not have to fear public shame for coming forward with word of a horrifying personal violation. That is a noble policy. But it needs a codicil. The codicil is that if a rape accuser is revealed as a liar, her name should be spoken loudly and often - as loudly and often as the names of those whom she falsely accused have been over the past year. Her name is Crystal Gail Mangum. She must be denied anonymity because she makes a mockery of the very policy of granting anonymity to rape accusers. We do not publish their names so that they will not fear public exposure. But people who are tempted to do the monstrous thing Mangum did should fear public exposure.

Thanks. I meant to be more specific about her not being registered as a student. Am I missing it at that link?
Oh, I am sorry; that was on the WRAL lunch time news. I don’t have a link to that.
Thanks.
Wow. I’m surprised.
Good questions, but having the post publish the pic is a good start, albeit 13 months late
When I was president of my college fraternity many years ago, I got a call from the jail. 3 members were being held without bail on a charge of rape. Seems that some high school girls had called the fraternity house one Saturday afternoon, looking for a good time. Three guys from the house picked them up, they went to an apartment, some beer was consumed, a little petting and kissing, some sort of argument, and a parting of the ways. No sex occurred and the girls had misrepresented both their ages and circumstances.
One of the girls, when confronted by her parents about what she had be up to, claimed that she had been abducted and raped by three college boys. Her parents reported this to the police, who prompted arrested and charged the three. Back then, they didn’t do rape kits, so it was going to be he said she said and the he’s were going to lose.
Fortunately, my mentor from the fraternity was in law school and he came from a very prominent family of lawyers. He knew who to call, and we got a very good criminal defense attorney on the case. The three were released on bail, and a girl from the high school was persuaded to wear a wire and discuss the incident with the accuser. She did, and our lawyer friend then played the tape in chambers to the judge and the prosecutor. Case dropped.
The accuser suffered the consequences from her parents, but was never publically held to account for her actions. For all I know, she may have done this again when it suited her fancy. If we hadn’t called the right lawyer, those three boys could still be in jail today.
My law school friend is today a U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge. I’m sure that his opinion of the actions of Mike Nifong and the North Carolina Attorney General would be colored by our own experiences with injustice those many years ago.
Your cool head and steady hand and input throughout this ordeal and on these threads was an absolute asset, Dukie07.
On another note, do you think the Lymphoma will knock Thompson out of the race even before he enters?
No way.
It was in that very same year I drove through Birmingham, Alabama, and say a billboard in town that said Kan the Kennedy Klan, with an accompanying Klan image. When crossing the state border into one of the Carolinas, we saw a billboard showing a mounted Klan rider on a rearing horse. It said, “You’re in Klan country!” Times have changed, indeed.
OT:
It was just announced that Imus has been fired from radio as well. Theyre going after Rush next. They already have a list of things hes said that they think are racist.
Ann Coulter is right for once; we do need a rule book.
” Theyre going after Rush next.’
They’ve always been going after Rush. The sky isn’t exactly falling.
It’s a much, much worse atmosphere now. Have you ever heard the libs talk about going after Rush on national television? Well, they’re doing it now.
And with the left in control in Congress, they’re pushing the Fairness Doctrine and this is going to breath new life into that.
No proof of Condit’s involvement with Chandra’s death has been offered. Hyperventilating at FR doesn’t count.
If there was any REAL evidence 9/11 would not have made a difference.
hahahahaha....yeah....right, gary.
That would be a blessing (if he doesn’t back out)
Turns out that Fred’s illness is hardly even and illness. No symptoms, no drastic treatment, no reduction of life span. It is definitely the cancer to have if you have the choice.
Hey, I followed the whole case with breathless concern. Never came up with anything of substance. Her family doesn’t seem to hold him responsible either not even civilly.
Coulter was being sarcastic.
