We agree on this one. Sharpton has won big. Free speech loses.

I hope the Freepers who put their hatred of Imus above the 1st Amendment, sleep well tonight.

I don't be hatin' no words. Seriously, this is a sad day for freedom. I never sleep well when my country crumbles a bit.

His employer fired him. How is that a violation of the 1st Amendment?

They never even gave him a chance to redeem himself..And they all think they're such good people, the one's who wouldn't forgive Don and help him grow from his mistakes.

Imus has done more for the Black kids than Sharpton and Jackson have..Shame on those two.

He should have just said “hey I’m an a**hole, I do rough comedy, I’m sorry for the stupid racist remark” and nothing more, but he fell for the “apology route” which libs always see as weakness and they always go for more.

Al “Freddy Mart” Sharpton has won again. That is a very bad thing for America.

I’m also disgusted by the falling away of people like Howard Fineman (who was on Imus practically every day), out of sheer cowardice and hypocrisy. For God’s sake, it was a COMEDY show.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech

I don't see the part of the First Amendment that prohibits MSNBC from firing Imus for saying something stupid on their channel.

It is troublesome to see so few here thinking this thing through to the end.

This has nothing to do with the First Amendment.

Corporate decisions have nothing to do with the First Amendment and are not bound by it. Don't much care about Imus one way or the other, but it reveals ignorance to think a private commercial programming decision is bound by the Bill of Rights. Sleep tight.

Yep, the Reverend Sharpton has won big. Main point that I may have missed, but may not be addressed is this.

Is what has come forth, been in proportion to the offence?

Just asking for a few opinions here.
