I think if I were Imus I would shut the ranch down, sell the assets, travel the world and let Sharpton, Jackson, Obama, and the others with the vapors handle all the unfortunate kids.

I never watched the show, but this is ridiculous. Imus has done more to help the underprivileged in the past than Sharpton and his ilk will ever do.

Churchill had a term for this: The Tyranny of Opinion. We suffer under it greatly in just about every aspect of the public sphere in the west. The Tyranny of Opinion will trump the Freedom of Speech every time. No contest.
