Imus: Message From a Nappy-Haired Freeper
4/10/2001 | Stanley Jackson

Posted on 04/10/2007 4:27:25 PM PDT by Stajack

I’m writing to those I consider my ideological brethren, after reading a lot of the commentary here regarding Imus’ latest rhetorical “riff”. I believe that most Freepers are, like me, disgusted at the ill- conceived stab at “humor” by him and his sidekick Bernard McGuirk. But in the aftermath of his actual words, Imus sought to make amends with Sharpton and Jackson. This was a brilliant move that accomplished two things. First, it caused a lot of us to take our scrutiny off of Imus, and to focus on the utter hypocrisy of Sharpton and Jackson. Second (and more importantly for me), it PROVIDED COVER FOR THE ENABLERS OF IMUS. Who am I talking about? Let’s see, Tim Russert, David Gregory, Chris Matthews, Howard Fineman, Jonathan Alter…the list goes on and on. These folks are enablers because for 30 years their ilk has enhanced the reputation and prestige of Imus, all the while winking and nodding at his verbal missiles. What have they gotten in return? A PLATFORM TO LAUNCH IDEOLOGICAL WARFARE AGAINST US AND THOSE WE SUPPORT. Ironically, in the midst of the withering scrutiny of Imus, Sharpton and Jackson, most of the enablers are morphing into “objective” journalists attempting to help Imus "find redemption' so we can all "move forward together”. As I’m writing this I see Brian William sweet talking the Rutgers coach , Vivien Stringer. To Williams and Co., I say STICK IT. Freepers, these are the same folks who would tar and feather Bennett, Limbaugh, Hannity or ANY CONSERVATIVE in similar circumstances. But because of our fixation on Sharpton and Jackson, the enablers are getting a pass. This is AT LEAST as much political as it is racial. Eye on the target, PLEASE.

[ In fact my focus isn't on what Imus said, it's on the politics AROUND it. ]

Me too... a ridiculous affair in every way..
Shows the mental weakness of liberals..

I did not write that.

You're right, you didn't. I'll send it where it belongs.

I predict South Park will grind out an episode about it before season’s end...

I don't know. Might be too soon after the "Nigger Guy" episode to do one on Imus and Nappy Headed Hos.

And when are they going to bring back Towlie!

He was ALSO saying that it is and has been the stock in trade among black comedians and that if such talk is forbidden/allowed to one set it should also be forbidden/allowed for the other.

You say this as if you expect me to disagree. Sorry to disappoint you.

I understand your point, but this guy has been saying these types of things for years. Why just now?

I read other post that say these rap lyrics are full of the same. I don’t make a point to listen to it but I heard it before too.

I suppose Imus radio program works on a short delay (maybe 6-10 secs). I don’t know who runs the delete button, maybe Imus does because it is his show. However, I am not so sure of that because of his condition.

Because of the history of all involved, I wouldn’t put anything past any of them.

Obviously, some free speech is freer than other.

That's the problem. Should not even be an issue.

Life is too short to spend any of it on Imus and his little band of toadies. Haven’t listened to him in years. If he is the only thing on the radio, I’d rather listen to the hum of my tires on the pavement.

I noticed that the tire hum is more melodic than Imus and makes more sense most of the time!!!!

Little remembered now that Napster isn't what it used to be or generating the media attention it did.

The program was given the name Napster by the kid who invented it because people teased him about his nappy hair.

He is white.

I'd pay the subject more attention when Al and "Hymietown" Jackson start wailing equally about thier own, who are much much more offensive than a "nappy ho"

I agree, BTW I also view this whole deal as cruel and vicious beyond the racial aspect.

These students aren’t seeking to be celebrities and get in people mag (like P Hilton). They are college student athletes not public celebrities. Mocking the looks of teenage girls is cruel and unnecessary.

For those of you that have daughters imaging if some media idiot happened to see a group they were associated with were mocked for their looks.

The guy is a nasty old POS.

You seem to be paying the subject a lot of attention now. Like I said before, this thread is about politics, not race. If you can't see that, it's your problem, not mine.

People say what they think. If you think bad things you say bad things. Best to train yourself to think properly to avoid embarrassing comments.
