A few years ago my Protege was in the shop for a few days and they gave me a Neon to drive.

Don't get me started about a Neon.My wife bought one and after a year or so the paint started really flaking off,the interior started falling down in the back, and I blew the head gasket at 50,000 miles.Took my whole weekend away changing the head gasket. The car had to warm up before it'd go in reverse. Then a deer did me a favor by running out in front of me in the fog and I totaled it slamming into it at 65 mph.I was using it for a work car when most of that was going on,I'd just bought her a new Eclipse a few months earlier.

I haven’t looked at them in years, but I think they came with either manual ragtop or removable fiberglas top.

I always thought the Miata was supposed to be an updated more reliable MG

I remember the original VW Beetles aka the Iron Hockeypuck with fondness. Reliable basic transportation to & from work.

Would to see the old LendLease Studebakers, used by Russia during WWII.

I did have one person call my car a girly car. Absurd.

I drive a 1997 Acura CL 3.0 this was the last year they looked really cool but you have to have the spoiler on or it looks stupid.

It has every luxury option for 1997 and goes 0-60 in 7.2 seconds. Mega reliable and is a great ride. It handles like a dream but does have a piss poor turning radius. I have always wondered about that one.

Great tourque on my baby to... :) Arioch7

Naw, it was hard to tell who hit him.

His insurance paid for it.

Naw, it was hard to tell who hit him.

You said you backed your Suburban over a Miata and squished it.

Either your story is missing something in the telling, or the insurance adjuster was Mr. Magoo with a recent head wound.

Buy a Miata if you like them, don’t worry about their image. Just be glad your ass ain’t walking.

No I didn't say I backed my Suburban OVER a Miata. I said I squished it with my Suburban backing up.

I didn't completely squish it. I was only going -3 mph. (backwards is minus mph you know)

It only squished the fender. I embellished in my last post because you embellished in yours. I actually paid him for the damage out of my pocket. It was around a grand.

I've never believed in letting inconvenient facts get in the way of a good story. As long as you're telling stories and not claiming they're factual. In ASCII, it's even more difficult to tell who's joshing or telling tall tales.

I actually paid him for the damage out of my pocket. It was around a grand.

Fair enough. I was actually a little upset when you said that his insurance paid it, but you paid for it, which was the menschy thing to do. I'm not Jewish, but I haven't found a better english word than mensch. So I use it. English will take words from anywhere.

The world would be a better place if more people just paid what they owed and didn't try to dodge it. And if people just asked for they owed and not the most they though they could get. No insurers, no lawyers.

Once in high school, I had a low-speed -- 2mph or so -- rear-end collision with another student. I don't know whether I rolled forward or he rolled back. We were both facing uphill, he had a stick, and working the clutch on a manual transmission is something teenagers tend not to be very good at.

His car was a recent-model (then) Mustang, mine a Dodge Dart older than me. He did a little yelling; I didn't fight the issue. I just said, let's take a look before we make a stink. "Just give me a chance to fix it before it becomes a thing," I asked. The only obvious damage was a smashed plastic tail light lens and a scrape on the plastic rear bumper.

I asked for the year of his car, drove out to the local junkyard, and pulled a replacement. I replaced all the bulbs in that housing just to be sure, and then checked that they worked. Then I rubbed out the minor scuffs on his bumper. Twenty minutes and twenty dollars -- and that's an outside estimate, it was probably more like ten and ten -- and everyone walked away happy. I shudder to think what that could have turned into had attorneys or insurers gotten involved.

Another time, I was driving home from school, racing with a buddy. Not drag racing or anything, just jockeying, because we were young and stupid. I hydroplaned, hopped a curb, took out a mailbox, and landed in a bush. The bush and the car were pretty much unharmed.

The homeowner in whose yard I was parked looked at the mailbox, at me, at the car, at the bush, back at me, and said in a perfectly calm voice, "son, looks like you owe me a mailbox."

I asked the guy not to rat me out to my parents. I wrote down my name, address and phone number, which he verified by asking for my license. he wrote down y insurance information. I said I'd be by in a few days, and please don't call before then.

Three or four days later, I went by and knocked on his door, ready to do what's right. His mailbox wasn't broken, the post merely dented and uprooted. He'd already straightened and replanted it, and told me to just go home.

How about a nice manly Lamborghini Diablo...

You could order it for your Wife/GF and or mistress from Vicky's, along with whatever sundry undies you were getting her. Only $350K.

In the old days, Mustang had both. I have seen original lemon yellow and olive green mustangs. ( I owned the olive green one.) Mustangs came with a huge hood to house big block engines for the guys (often in black or red) and little straight six engines for the girls (lemon yellow or powder blue).

I now own a black 300C. Open the hood and all you see is a 350 horse Hemi. I know there are batteries and radiators and fan belts under there somewhere. But all you see is that Hemi taking up the whole thing. I feel very manly pulling into the gas station every 5 days and paying $50. And its got wood finish all over the interior. Women don't do wood finish in cars.

My ride is a 2002 Chevie Silverado 3500 4x4 extended cab dually with the 8.1 Vortec (496 cubic inches) that I have customized pretty heavily like retrofitting all lights to LED, an HID projecter headlight system, HID fog and driving lights, custom instrument cluster from a Cadillac plus external side mirrors with LED signals and auto-dimming, a custom sound system and all new speakers, a warning light strobe system front and rear plus several other “mods” that are not generally availabe to non emergency vehicles.

a 1968 Shelby Mustang convertable

I'm talking about those atrocious 90's Mustangs. The classics never go out of style, and even if they are girly cars, which they decidedly are NOT, they'd be worth driving just for the sheer class they ooze.

Custom is almost always manly. Chicks don’t trick out their cars much. Show me a car with more thanone cup holder and I will show you a girly car. Show me a car with several after market mods and I will show you a guy.
