I was listening to the Laura Ingraham radio show today and they were talking about how some cars are girly cars and some are manly cars. Laura was particularly mentioning that the Mazda Miata was a girly car. This was news to me. Her assisitant chimed in with saying the Mazda 3 was a girly car. This was also news to me. I'm in the market for a new car and was thinking of buying the MAzda 3 or a Miata. I've been told that the 3 has fewer service issues than other Mazda cars.
Of course one would gather that the manly cars would be trucks.
One girly car I've noticed is the VW Beetle. I've never seen a man driving one of those.
What do Freepers think? What cars are girly cars and what cars are manly cars.
Not by me.
I think it's from a StarTrek movie...about the BORG or something.
NOT a girly car
The vett is the faster of the two and about $20k less expensive and MUCH more comfortable, but neither one soucl be considered a girly car like a Miata or an S2000
Nobody that matters cares what you drive.
Miata is a girly car in my book.
If you want a 2 seater sportscar, I’d go with something else.
VW Bug (modern) chick car...
VW Cabriolet Chick Car...
Sebring Convertible about the only Convertable you can own as a guy with a family that needs transporting, but still primarily a chick car.
Many cars are androgenous, but some definately are more effeminate or masculine... For example, you don’t look impressive as a man driving a Civic Del Sol... And you look even gayer if you have a Corvette with a MANUAL transmission.
SUV’s are almost across the board Chick/Compensation vehicles.
Sorry but you have a vette with a automatic transmission, that just screams GIRLY CAR.. .I don’t care what the sheetmetal looks like
Oh yea? Go check out the SUBARU’s before they switched from 4WD to being all AWD... 4WD does not guarantee one freedom from being a “chick car”.
(Sorry, should be AUTOMATIC transmission)
(Sorry, should be AUTOMATIC transmission)
You should be sorry since you didn't look closely at the picture; the little nostril on the hood indicates that it's a Z06 which ONLY comes with a 6 speed manual.
I wasn’t talking about the car in your pic, I was talking about the implication that a Vette alone makes it a manly car... it doesn’t.
Nothing screams wuss/gay than a sportcar with an automatic transmission.
How would you classify the Toyota Hilux "technical" with .50 cal mounted in the bed and a bunch of teenaged jhadis hanging off the back? "Girly", "manly", "gay" or what?
Pontiac might be a girly brand, but they are popular among young men of the unemployed and plenty of time to waste type. Macho pickup trucks are popular among both sexes about equally. Subaru Forester is a middle-aged yuppie woman’s car. Young punks like the Dodge pickup truck although they never carry anything in the bed except sometimes a snowmachine or 4-wheeler; it’s really their Dad’s truck but he is embarrased to be seen in it so the kid gets wheels.
Miata = girly car
F-250 = manly car
Cabriolet = girly car
Tahoe = manly car
VW Beetle = girly car
Hummer = poser car (unless you drive one as part of your Armed Forces job)
Aztek = butt-ugly car
G35 = uber-cool car
True, except this
has an automatic transmission, and I wouldn't call it a girly car.
I got myself a 1995 Suburban - my dad made me an offer I couldn't refuse on it.
The wife decided she wanted the Suburban.
So now I'm driving the Tucson. Oh, well. At least it has a sunroof.
Unless you’re way tall, you should check out Saturns that were built (say) later than a decade ago.
I’m five-ten, and fit into my 2000 SC1 quite nicely. When it dies, I’m sure I’ll get another Saturn.
A manly car fer sher.
Yes, they are nice cars. I just had never heard that the Fiat 124 was considered the source of inspiration for the Miata like the original poster suggested.
I liked my TR6, but likely a 124 would out-handle it pretty easily. “Fix It Again Tony”—hadn’t heard that in years. LOL.
