I heard some of the Border Patrol people speak at CPAC a few weeks ago. They said the NG were not helpful at all. Duncan Hunter said at a meeting I attended a few weeks ago that only 1 and 1/2 miles of the fence have been built to date. I seriously doubt that it will ever be built now that the Dems are in charge.

Obviously, I haven’t had a chance to read all of that, but I can say that the people we have met since we moved to the Southwest are predominantly of Mexican descent. The way to spot a recent immigrant (illegal or legal) is to speak with their children. If the children do not speak English very well or don’t understand English, then you have a good clue. Most of the people we have gotten to know teach their children to speak English. First. They are patriotic towards the United States. I know there are pockets of “colonists”, but in the area where we live, it is not so. And we live in an area that is 90% or more Mexican-American or “Native American”-type people. (several reservations in the vicinity)

It confused us quite a bit when we would hear people who clearly appear of Mexican descent poke fun at people for being Mexican or “wetbacks” or whatever. It is also fairly evident that there is animosity between the “Indian” peoples and the Mexican peoples. From what I have read, this animus dates back hundreds of years.

I mentioned the guy we know who looks/sounds like he was just dumped from a smuggler’s truck, but he is the exception. And he can pass for someone who’s been in the U.S. all of his life. He works hard for his family, and he is a giver rather than a taker. I suspect that his family came to the U.S. as migrant farmworkers, and they tend to stick together when they are surrounded by a lot of white people. Having lived a short time in the neighborhood where this guy grew up, the segregation continues today. I don’t see a difference in the segregation that I experienced as a child in Mississippi and the segregation that I have seen in various parts of the country. The ethnic groups vary, but the segregation is the same.

The smuggling will go on regardless. People who don’t qualify for the guest worker program will find other ways to enter illegally. And exactly how long will these “guest workers” be allowed to stay? Will they be required to go home?

I've tried. But there's no way I can support Bush on his amnesty "guest worker" program. And for him to continue to flog that deceased equine has me wondering what the hell he's thinking.

Government unwillingness to uphold our immigration/labor laws and protect our border is now close to complete. In fact, it goes beyond mere negligence. All three branches of our federal government are now enthusiastic participants in the ongoing violation of our border, our soil and our laws.

This opens the door to a virtual tsunami of invasion that will make these 20 million look like a drop in the bucket.

I came up with this a couple of years ago:

rottndog's 10 Simple solutions to the crisis of illegal immigration:

1. Immediately allocate funding for as many border patrol agents as necessary to effectively secure the borders. This would include the use of military forces, as defending the country against invasion is supposed to be the primary function of the Federal Government.

2. Immediately allocate funding for a modern and effective border fence.

3. Cut off all federal funds to any state, county, and/or city that has an expressed (or even unexpressed) sanctuary policy, including police noncooperation policies such as LAPD's special order number 40.

4. Immediately sue in federal court all aforementioned entities to overturn these patently unconstitutional policies (enforce the supremacy clause).

5. Cut off all federal funds to any state, county, and/or city that refuses to verify eligibility requirements for the dispensing of federally funded or subsidized public services.

6. Start prosecuting repeat illegal border crossers and put them in prison. It is a felony to recross the border after deportation. Give them a warning after the first offense, but after that, off to jail. Maybe have longer sentences for multiple offenses (I like Three Strikes).

7. End the "anchor baby" citizenship loophole. This can be done simply by federal statute.

8. Establish and implement a system of instant electronic checking of residency status for the purpose of employment. They have instant checking for firearms purchasing, why not for employment eligibility verification?

9. Fund random inspections of businesses by ICE officials to verify employment eligibility (legal residency). Include in this a task force to immediately respond to the use of bogus employee social security numbers.

10. Arrest and prosecute employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens. After instant checks are established, there will be no excuses.

Some of these things could be done under current law--in other words, much of the problem would go away if our current laws already on the books were ENFORCED!


Notice the main theme is law ENFORCEMENT. The reason I am so critical of Bush is because law ENFORCEMENT is his job at the federal level, and when it comes to U.S. Border Sovereignty and Immigration Laws, Bush is not ENFORCING existing laws. Why should I believe he is serious about ENFORCING new laws, when he won't ENFORCE existing laws already on the books?

Here he goes about “It’s not amnesty” routine. We can’t send them home. They wouldn’t be here if we enforced the rules already on the books. The back of line begins in their home countries, not here. Being allowed to stay here and work puts them at the front of the line.
