Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!
.
Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,
Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
A tipping point kind of country, I think.
I just heard Elijah Cummings pretty much say that their mission is to tell the POTUS to ACCEPT that the war is LOST!!
I just sit here with my mouth open in shock..they don’t even care how that sounds.
The elegant stilleto approach they used for Viet Nam is gone and they are just pulling out meat cleavers. More suited to the bunch we are now dealing with.
Well my father was away from his family for 4 year without the opportunity to fly home because it wasn't an affordable thing to do back then .. they had to write letters .. some of which had wholes in them because I guess he mention to much of his mission/battles .. I have some of those letters he wrote
And during WWII he fought in some pretty hard battles to the road to victory ... just like the troops are doing today
You don't win battles by sticking you head up your *** like Murtha and the Democrats are doing
WOW..wonderful analogy.
Yes, I do believe you are right.
I guess the latest video of the 12 year old beheading someone STILL doesn’t convince them that Bush didn’t lie...that these ARE enemies of us all, and that they will spare NO horror for any of us...not even PELOSI, MURTHA, or Reid.
They will when the terrorists attack on our land again ... and then they scream that Bush should have done something to stop them
Thanks for your replies.
I am just sick that Gen. Petraeus took time away from his troops to come here and speak to ungrateful LIARS...those that bothered to show up, that is.
I heard that he and Sec. Gates are giving a Pentagon presser in the morning...but, we know that Gen. Petraeus will NOT say anything negative about the liar Hoyer..or the traitors, Murtha, Pelosi or Reid.
He has to stay NON-political doncha know...but they can quote their “secret” generals all day long..you know, the ones that say that they can’t take it over there any more..the ones that say that we have lost this war..and it is all Bush’s fault.
THOSE generals...whose names we will never know..because they don’t exist...not and be worth a damn.
When people like Wesley Clark make General...I wonder sometimes...but he got drummed out ASAP...by a CLINTON!!
Sorry..Mo1...I am ticked tonight..and I am ranting..please, just ignore me.
LOL
They are off an running. Levin is bragging about how they are going to spend billions MORE than the President asked for.
Levin says the prestent course is failing. Funny how they were so insistent that they get reports on the situation, but when they het them, they don’t listen.
Levin is astounded that the Iraqi parliament is going to take a 2 month recess in June.
He says there was a suicide bomb inside the green zone in the Iraqi parliament. As we ALL know, the parliament is NOT inside the green zone. More lies.
Can’t stay to listen to this debate .. but I think we all know how what they will say
Levin is for the Bill ... gee .. didn’t he say on one of the Sunday Talking head shows that we wouldn’t pull out ??
Morning, FRiends.
My salute to you who can stand to watch the congresscritters at work.
I’d have to go to confession every day if I tried...
Bill Nelson is going to show us what a magnificent and evenhanded sort of fellow he is. He does it by basically saying we were lied into the war.
Pretty evenhanded there, Nelson.
He cannot manage to sound like his IQ exceeds the single digits.
(Hi, Knitting)
At last, someone mentions that micromanaging the war from the Congress just might be unconstitutional (Ensign).
Oh my goodness, this message on the existential threat to our very existence will be interrupted by a dissertation on the “Bring our sons and daughters to work day”.
Mary, push your chair away from the jumbalaya more often and earlier.
Byrd up. Nothing new...more than 4 years, people killed and wounded, too much money spent.
That money could have been spent on building monument to him n his home state. What a waste.
CNN is carrying Paqtreas’s presser, in case anyone is interested in listening to a sense maker, rather than the bloviating democrats on the senate floor. Questions being asked now; talking about how AQ is the key enemy.
Bryd is a Liar .. the President never said Iraq was involved with 9/11
Byrd defines demagogue.
Is Byrd not aware of all of the money already appropriated for rebuilding the Gulf Coast?
Absent that day?
